I've seen that mentioned several times. I don't blame him. One book I haven't seen discussed is the lone Shadowman
1 CGC 9.9. I'm curious to know who owns that issue.

Congrats!!!!
10's are just impossible...
I ordered a case of VF FCBD and none of the 300 copies would even be close to a 9.8

I struggle to tell the difference between a 9.6 and a 9.8 most of the time. What exactly makes a book "Gem Mint" compared to a 9.8.

You have to bribe at least two... at CGC, all books are double-graded (or triple, if double isn't agreed).Elveen wrote:A bribe to the grader?Intrepidxc wrote:I struggle to tell the difference between a 9.6 and a 9.8 most of the time. What exactly makes a book "Gem Mint" compared to a 9.8.
Actually, Gem Mint usually means extremely sharp corners, no visible... well... anything... and probably the one most people don't realize... no fingerprints.
Since many books are sent directly to CGC from the printer, you'll see a lot more CGC 10 on books just printed than you will on older books... people actually touched books before CGC.
There are situations where someone has an older unopened case, such as Spider-man #1 (1990)... whole unopened cases have been sent to CGC before.
Another thing that increases the chance of CGC 10 is a square-bound book (like Batman: Killing Joke) or the full-chromium cover.

Ahh...I'm not sure what I'd do if I ever ended up with CGC 10 book. I'd probably sell it. Then I would take the money buy a 9.8 copy of the same book pocketing the difference.greg wrote:You have to bribe at least two... at CGC, all books are double-graded (or triple, if double isn't agreed).Elveen wrote:A bribe to the grader?Intrepidxc wrote:I struggle to tell the difference between a 9.6 and a 9.8 most of the time.
