Re: CBCS Grading Company
I would have to assume that the backup has to do with being bombarded by requests as soon as they started taking submissions. I'm sure that delay will taper off soon.Ramses818 wrote:Sorry I wasn't paying attention to this thread or I would've added it. Anyway I agree the company inspires much more confidence and professionalism then do the others. The only thing I don't like is the fact that they are so overwhelmed that it takes over three months for grading that should take three weeks. And I've gotten a couple of their cases now and I haven't been overly thrilled. They feel a little loose even though they are sealed. But like I said the company itself does inspire confidence especially in the fact that it will be around for a long time and hopefully with people with the same level of integrity.

I don't see the drop off happening anytime soon. They are probably going to get worse because I think that MORE people will be submitting.

Honestly, this might annoy me. I need to put my hands on a case and see. Might just buy a low-end slab to test.Ramses818 wrote:And I've gotten a couple of their cases now and I haven't been overly thrilled. They feel a little loose even though they are sealed.

Re: CBCS Grading Company
I bought 3 so far, and one was orange label. They are to exactly describe the difference without feeling for yourself. They are good, the inner well seems to warp less, yet they seem more brittle/rigid. They a slightly bigger edge and have less small scratch ease it seems. The clip/snap seems like it could be an issue, but so far all the features seem solid. Time will tell, but I think they are fine. And as we have discussed, the PSA hook up is great feature. Hopefully they will get the turnaround time under control, but yes I think they are getting more than anticipated and are playing a hard game of catch up.DirtbagSailor wrote:Honestly, this might annoy me. It seems the demand for CBCS and CGC is overwhelming right now.

Re: CBCS Grading Company
I just sent 5 books to CBCS. I have never had anything graded but decided to give it a shot. I am patient, so if it takes a few months, then it is no biggie.
One of the books I sent was a Next Men 21 that I had Mignola sign at Comic Con. Their site asked for the date the sig happened, which I did remember. It costs an extra $25 for the sig verification.

My books were received by CBCS on 2/17. I got an email stating the books had arrived. Still waiting for any info about my books.

Re: CBCS Grading Company
I knew it would take a while and that they were quite backed up. I just want to see the grades. I am not the type who can say if something is 9.8 or 9.6 or 9.0 and I want to send more older stuff in and learn more about grading.

Fast track is worth it, folks - if you are a seller, anyway. My 2nd to last sub, almost 4 calendar months. This last sub - just a couple weeks.

Re: CBCS Grading Company
My submission from 1 Nov 2014 just started grading. They are seriously backed up. I mailed them and asked them to only grade two books out of the 20 I shipped. I explained that I cannot reward a company for taking four months to do something their competitor can do in less time. They agreed, apologize profusely and asked me to give them another chance. I explained that I'm more than willing to use them as a grader once turnaround times are lowered.Joshua wrote:My books were received by CBCS on 2/17. I got an email stating the books had arrived. I should know soonish if I pulled a 9.8 on my Rai 0 submission and my Manifest Destiny 1 Ottley variant

There is FB site with the sig witnesses and they are taking books to get signed for you to cons. And there seems to a be bunch of them, and I thinks they get piece of the action. Does this seem like a conflict of interest to anyone or just my paranoia ?

Re: CBCS Grading Company
Witness just insure the books are signed by who they say. I see no conflict with this until the become unscrupulous, like Anastasia's collectibles. in which case I think they should be removed and not allowed to do it. But is always people have to complain so we know what the problems are. But as far as witnessing a signature I see no conflict of interest in that because it does not affect the grade of the book.doodlebird wrote:There is FB site with the sig witnesses and they are taking books to get signed for you to cons. Re: CBCS Grading Company
I wanted to share this interaction I had with CBCS and Steve Borock today.
So long story short it took 5 months for my latest two CBCS shipment to get graded and then there was an issue on CBCS's end. Last Friday I spoke with customer service, but due to time of the call (after business hours, oops). There was no one to resolve my issue and I was asked if they could call me back on Monday. I said sure and went on about my weekend.
Today, I received a call from Steve Borock himself. It was an awesome experience. We talked for about 45 minutes, mostly about what I liked and didn't like about CBCS. In the end Steve hooked me up with 2 free 2 day turnaround modern submissions and took care of my issue. He left me his personal cell phone number and told me to call him personally if there was ever an issue that I didn't feel was resolved. He then thanked me for my military services and we hung up.
A couple interested facts about CBCS:
1. They started with 7 people. CGC started with 5. Steve admitted he was not prepared for the influx of submissions. I reminded him that he has a great reputation and his reputation more than anything encouraged people to try out CBCS.
2. CBCS now has 24 people at the company and they are looking to hire more, but Steve will not sacrifice quality for turn around time. He thinks the grading standards should never be reduced to support faster turn around times.
Anyway, I'm rambling but it was a great experience and CBCS has me as a customer for life. Will I still buy CGC slabs? Sure, but anything I submit will go to CBCS.

I have had similar conversations with Steve while he was at CGC. Like I've said before, I trust him to do the right thing.
