And you know that means these guys are truly legit .StarBrand wrote:A search for cbcs on eBay shows more of their books listed now. Sure enough, there are listings saying "cbcs it."
Case in point: how many times have you EVER seen "PGX it!" in a listing ?

Re: CBCS Website Live - Initial Impressions and Submission
Well CBCS missed there grading turnaround window with my submissions. Even giving them a grace period to account for pickup of books from the PO Box they've exceeded the 15 business days promised.
As of today my books still show "in safe".

There is always the possibility they haven't updated my information yet, but I suspect the books haven't been graded. At least this way I'll get to see if they honor the discount they advertise for late turnaround.lorddunlow wrote:Intrepidxc wrote:Well CBCS missed there grading turnaround window with my submissions. Re: CBCS Website Live - Initial Impressions and Submission
I sent CBCS an email today asking about the turnaround times. We'll see what they say. Normally I would send an email after only 15 business days, but since CBCS clearly listed a 15 business day turnaround time for moderns, I figured what the heck. Additionally, I wanted to find out how the discount process works if they miss a grading deadline.

Re: CBCS Website Live - Initial Impressions and Submission
I emailed CBCS about my submission and being past due. Here is the response I received:
Hi Chris,
Unfortunately we are running behind on the Modern tier, as this is our most popular tier.
Your books are past the due date, so depending on what day they are graded and returned to you, you will be receiving a credit on your account as our turnaround times are guaranteed.
We apologize for the delay!
Kind Regards,

I have to say that CBCS has had top notch customer service throughout this whole process. I've emailed them twice with questions and both times received answers less than 24 hours later. When I give them feedback on my experience I'll be sure to mention how pleased I am with their customer service.

4 business days late = 2% credit
8 business days late = 4% credit
14 or more business days late = 5% credit
Credits are good for one year.

Re: CBCS Website Live - Initial Impressions and Submission
According to the CBCS website, you can pre-screen for a minimum grade for ANY book, not needing to submit 20 to 50 books (as CGC requires).
You can also pre-screen a different grade for each book.
So, if you want to pre-screen for a CBCS 5.0 on one book and a CBCS 9.6 on another... and only slab those two books... you can.

That's amazing! That's going to get them some business. Love the competition for CGC!

I have to assume their will eventually be a CBCS registry. We're all tied right now.

I love that the competition for CGC is the guy who started CGC.StarBrand wrote:That's amazing! That's going to get them some business. Love the competition for CGC!
If we have been waiting for someone legitimate... I don't think it could get any better.

That's why I figured I'd try them out. Competition benefits the consumer. Maybe we can get faster turnaround times or cheaper grading fees. Heck, I'd settle for cheaper shipping and handling fees and be happy.greg wrote:I love that the competition for CGC is the guy who started CGC.StarBrand wrote:That's amazing! Yep. That was one of the things I really liked. They've made the right moves and plans. They just need to show it can be executed and CGC will have the competition that the hobby needs.greg wrote:According to the CBCS website, you can pre-screen for a minimum grade for ANY book, not needing to submit 20 to 50 books (as CGC requires).

That right there would make me consider doing a 180 and flip to CBCS.Intrepidxc wrote:Maybe we can get faster turnaround times or cheaper grading fees.

Re: CBCS Website Live - Initial Impressions and Submission
I forgot to check yesterday, but my books are now in the grading stage. My order was received on the 28th of July. Based on the published 15 business day turn around time they should have been mailed back to me on 18th of August. Grading started approximately 1 week later putting them at somewhere between a 20 to 25 business day turnaround.
Still faster than CGC, but not quite what they originally published. There is a discount for late grading which will hopefully motivate them to get the grading done within published timelines. I'll let everyone know how it goes when I receive the books back and how the credit is applied. I'm also interested to see if I can see the grades online once grading is complete.
Here's to hoping at least my Rai #1 Gold gets a 9.8!

Re: CBCS Website Live - Initial Impressions and Submission
I've been unable to join with a free membership the last couple days, so I called and was told they've been having problems with their website. They registered me by phone, which was cool. Now to go check to see if I'm able to log in.
The feature that sold me is I'm planning on doing submissions of probably around 10 or 20 books at a time, and being able to prescreen those books for 9.8 or better is really a boon to me.
Edit- I'm now a member. I should be submitting my first order shortly.
