Nycjadie's CGC 2019 Submissions

Post by nycjadie »

I'll follow other board members and post my actions here. I'm getting some momentum, so hopefully will be much more productive than last year.

2 pending submissions are awaiting pressing and grading. They are mostly V1 with a few Acclaim and non-Valiant. 50 books.

I just mailed today 3 submissions, mostly Bloodshot Salvation and X-O Manowar. Prestige books nearly across the board. Lots of variants. I've been hitting 100% 9.8 on prestige lately, but there are a few here that might get bumped.

I also sent back one mislabeled book. I get so many from CGC that I'm going to catalog them all right here for 2019! Bloodshot Salvation 1 2nd print was mislabeled as a 1st.

Right now I'm prepping another submission. I'm finally sending off my high grade Giant Size X-Men 1. I'm really hoping for a 9.6. Could come back a 9.4, or even a 9.8. Those 70s square bound books, it's always hard for me to tell. All my fingers crossed. :hope:

With the same submission, I'll send in my Quantum ridiculous cover with the Livewire sticker, and another 25 books - I'm thinking some high grade V1 commons that I have. My goal is to finish out my V1 Bloodshot run in 9.8! I'm missing 13 of the regular issues, and I should have half of those in the near future. I've had the top set for a few years, but it would be really cool to have a close to full set by the time the movie comes out.

Finally, I'm thinking about submitting some of my old Uncanny books, if funds allow. I've always wanted to high grade Uncanny set, starting around issue 90, and going to 200 or so. I was a monthly reader about issue 180. I collect the highest grade issue I can in direct and news, so I should have some really good candidates, but not a full run of them.

Just got an invoice for 25 mostly Valiant books, including 8 V1 Bloodshots, and some VEI variants. I also included a Malibu Sun 13 (probably a 9.0 at best), a Macross 1 (hoping for 9.6/9.8), and a New Titans 61 (better be a 9.8!). Highlights also include a Summer of Valiant (fingers crossed), and the Free Comic Book Day France book, featuring X-O (guessing a 9.6).

:hope: on the Summer of Valiant TPB and the Giant X-Men 1. The TPB is in the Value tier and takes forever to grade. :!:

2019 is starting off to an amazing start. That GS X-Men #1 grade was just shipped. I'm ELATED.

9.8. It might be a $10K book.

Haven't received that yet. CGC is back to snail's pace slow. I've got October submissions that still state "Verified"! Hoping for a 9.6. Best I have is a 9.4.

Kind of crazy that I bought this raw book is essentially as old as I am, and it came out 9.8. Especially those squarebound glued books. Bananas. I will be selling this one. I've got a 7.5 which has emotional significance, and is so much more meaningful to me.

I also will be pre-screening many V1/V2 Bloodshot books for grading later this year. Hopefully I'll come close to filling out my 9.8 set as well.

Weird. I have 2 submissions at CGC received on 10/22/18 which are still "received." I have another submission received on 1/16/19, and it's now "graded." Sometimes, I'm completely perplexed by CGC.

They must automate the requests for status checks now. They are all the same.

For invoice XXXXXX, we received this submission on 10/22/18 in CCS for pressing , and this service is running an approximate 16-18 weeks, then it will transfer over to CGC for grading and this is running an approximate 4-6 weeks.

Results posted! All these years of submitting to CGC, and self-grading books, has finally paid off. Thousands of books in, I think I've finally got the eye confidently enough to buy some big ticket books from dealers and still make some bank. 3 eras of keys:

Batman Adventures 12 - 9.6 - SUPER pleased. $800 book. Modern key.

Iron Man 55 - 5.5 - Respectable, especially for a book that was never bagged and that I bought for a song. Happy and it's my only copy. $400-500 in value. Bronze key.

Brave and the Bold 54 - 8.5 - SUPER pleased. Bought this at a store, and looks like I did really well on it. Guessing $1750 in value. Maybe more. Silver key.
