Out of curiosity, which ones? Doctor Solar 8 seems to me to be the hardest issue to find in this universe. I think I have one copy that's either worth slabbing or pressing first. I'll take a closer look at it at some point.

Not sure exactly, but mostly #1s from each series

I'm a fan of the Dr. Solar / Magnus C2E2 variant limited to 1,000 copies. :)

It's probably 1:50 to 1:100 compared to the FCBD book with a similar cover.

I have two shipments of comics at CGC right now. Some of the books are DEFIANT. I have been corresponding with CGC in hopes they would notate my Dark Dominion 7s as the first JG Jones pro work, and also stating the Splatterball comics I sent in are the No Seal editions on their labels.
I heard back in both cases today, and they are fulfilling my wishes in both instances! I'm extremely pleased with CGC at the moment. They could easily research my claim of Dark Dominion 7 being the first JG Jones pro work. I gave them a specific way to research my claim there are three Splatterball variants by going to mycomicshop's site and searching for Splatterball. They took the time to do all that.

Funny how ALL of the Dark Key covers were so great.

The stories were somewhere between painful - and really bad.

But that preview issue may have been the best of the bunch. Certainly is the best of the Magnus stories.

I may have to add Broadway to this thread. I went through my Broadways and pulled three Broadway 9.8 candidates.

I'm probably going to submit my first New Universe on my next submission. I have a D.P. 7 #32 with a very slight spine roll sitting under a stack of Marvel Masterworks right now. If it flattens out just a bit I'll send it off. I might anyway.
That's the last issue of the series. Of note, the last several months before that line ended all New Universe comics were newsstands.

I've been following my CGC submission with my two Splatterball no seal editions closely, and noticed today my CGC books were about to ship to me. After having been told CGC was going to notate the Splatterball no seal editions as being such on my labels, I noticed that was not in the notes on their website. I called and had a conversation with the CGC phone rep about the no seal being noted on my books. Seems CGC had changed their collective minds about notating that for me.
Finally the phone rep said she'd go talk to the head grader, and she said she'd let me know the head grader's decision. I became a bit intense about the matter, and told her to please ask the head grader to call me since I have more information on the book if he didn't agree I had sent in no seal editions. I've sent in a fair amount of books to CGC and had never gone to bat for a book like this before, but I love my DEFIANT slabs and this was worth fighting for to me.
I received an email shortly after the conversation that they would notate my Splatterballs as no seal editions. I just checked my order and they have it noted now that the two Splatterballs I sent in are no seal editions.
Good thing I watched this so closely and stayed on top of it. My order was marked shipped/safe about an hour or two after that conversation.
I received grades of 9.6 and 9.4 on my Splatterball no seal editions. I've only seen scans of two other copies of that book, and both of those copies were pretty beat up. I'm not sure my 9.6 will ever be equalled. It'll be interesting to see if any other high grade copies of this book ever get slabbed. I personally believe the Splatterball no seal edition is likely the rarest DEFIANT comic book.

Congrats.

Now - gotta start the hunt for this.

Unless, of course... You'd be willing to sell the 9.4... :hope:

Very cool, man! That's a grail for sure. I'd be interested in a copy if you are willing to sell/trade and you can't work something out with Kevin.

I listed a Dark Dominion 1 in CGC 9.8 yesterday on eBay for $55 shipped and it sold today. I was just testing the waters, though I was confident there is a market for DEFIANT slabs. As I say in my DEFIANT listings, DEFIANT is still known today for the quality of product it put out.

Interest in slabbed comics begets interest in raw copies of those same comics, and visa versa...

I sent in a Doctor Solar 8 from the Dark-Key line and just found out it received a 9.8. I've always felt this is the toughest non-variant to find from the line. Of note, it features the fourth and final part of the new Doctor Solar origin by Jim Shooter.

I desperately want a strict NM Dogs of War #5 from DEFIANT. Must be 9.4 or better and have no stress marks along spine. If you have one please send me a PM and we can negotiate price. Thank-you.
