Sending Books to CGC
Question for some of the more experienced submitters to CGC. I am sending a book back to CGC to be reholdered. I am filling out their form. Is there a reason to go with USPs of FedEx? Which is safer? I assume I buy the proper amount of insurance from USPS or FedEx and do not rely on CGC. Any ideas on the time required to get the book back? Any other advice? Thank you.

Unless you have private collectibles insurance or you are ok with risking the item in question (i.e. low value) the only real choice is the usps. FedEx limits their liability on collectibles to something like $100.

Yep; concur.FormerReader wrote:Thank you. USPS it is.
FWIW, every time I've sent something directly to CGC (raws or for a REholder), and/or to CCS, it's gone via USPS.

Thanks Jay. I just need to ask CGC how they go about refunding for the insurance or if they do due to having to reholder because of waviness caused by the new slab design.BloodShot wrote:Yep; concur.FormerReader wrote:Thank you. USPS it is.

I feel bad for the OP. I hope it turns up. Good reason to pay for the insurance. Thank you.

What is insuring your books, is that a separate service for mailing comics, or is it general insurance people have on their books?
I also need to send a book to CGC, it's an old label bronze horror in 9.6, and the books moves freely inside the case!!! I think there's grader notes in it as well that's loose, I should take photos.

In this case we're talking about buying insurance at the USPS in the event that they lose the book they would then pay you for the cost you insured it to. Now there is also collectables insurance, but that is not what I was asking about in my OP.

Okay, is collectibles insurance something you buy to always have or just for around mailing?FormerReader wrote:GGSAE wrote:What is insuring your books, is that a separate service for mailing comics, or is it general insurance people have on their books?

The policy everyone on the CGC boards seems to have is both, actually. Collectibles Insurance Agency (CIA), I think.GGSAE wrote:Okay, is collectibles insurance something you buy to always have or just for around mailing?FormerReader wrote:GGSAE wrote:What is insuring your books, is that a separate service for mailing comics, or is it general insurance people have on their books?
