Were the last days of Acclaim/Valiant good ones?

Post by CLA »

I noticed the creators on the covers of the Accliams'. Maguire, Waid, Guice and other very popular creators. My question is, how could these books be in low demand when the best talent in the industry was working on them?

Very easy. Many Store owners were feeling burnt by Valiant and didn't order many. Some stores I know of didn't order any at all. The books ignored what came before in Valiant history. It is never good to turn on your fan base. Q&W did get some support but not enough to kick them going.

So these guys totally ignored continuity? Wow. That's a big no-no in the comic industry.

I'm a little lost. Was Acclaim publishing books labeled as "Acclaim/Valiant" and "Valiant" at the same time?

So...I should stay away from the "Acclaim/Valiant" label?

Personally I am a die hard Valiant (VH1) fan. Everything else... well, to me it just looks bad. Guess I am old school.
Was there any really good stuff after Shooter left?

Pre-Unity and Unity were by far my favorite times - I can't think of anything going on at that time that I did NOT like.

Those Unity and preunity comics were like magic in a sense. We were getting at that time what was not available in most comics good art with a great story.

I tended to drift away from comics in general about the time of chaos affect. I started a new business and had a family to support, so comic lost out.

That being said by the time I came back to comics Valiant was gone!! and it did not even occur to me at that time to finish my runs, when I did start I found that most of the Valiant comics were getting kinda suckey towards the end
Welcome to the Jungle!!

No it wasn't me that did that!!
