Is it time we all adopted new vernacular to differentiate between the different Valiant's?

Is it time we all adopted new vernacular to differentiate between the different Valiant's?
I think this is a general understanding (correct me if I'm wrong):
VH1- OG Valiant, 1991-1996
1. Pre-Unity- This term sucks, because it seemingly doesn't include Unity!
2. VH1 obviously makes everyone thinking of the channel.
3. VEI and DMG should be separated. VEI ended around mid-2018, then had a few straggling series to wrap up (Shadowman, X-O, LaDoTH, etc). DMG began around mid-2018.
VH1- OG Valiant, 1991-1996
- Pre-Unity- The Shooter era, 1991-1992, including Unity.
- VH3- I don't fully understand how to describe this era, but I know it happened in 1999
- DMG- When Dinesh and co. were ousted and DMG took over, 2018-present.

Well, it's the "hard(er)-to-find" pre-Unity books vs. the Shooter era (incl. Unity).TheFerg714 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 8:30:22 pm 1. Pre-Unity- This term sucks, because it seemingly doesn't include Unity!
But we could certainly differentiate:
VH1preU
VH1inclU
VH1postU
and
VAC (or "VBQ") for 1994-96
They really need to call themselves "Vachina" already, or maybe "Vacchine-19" which will work well keeping in mind we already decided to call the later VH1 era the "VAC".TheFerg714 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 8:30:22 pm 3. Or, they could simply put "China Comics Inc." in small letters next to the logo.
In all cases, I think, it's safe we start calling it "VCC".
Another option, of course, would be....
VEIpreHW2
VEIinclHW2
VEIpostHW2
or
VIDS
VPDS
VPWS
or
VpreHA
VHA (also known as VHANTOS with a silent H....some may also refer to it as the VMS era....but that wouldn't be politically correct)
VpostHA
or
the V(only)2B era
or
more?
you need more?

I've been looking everywhere for the ultra-rare Turok vs Blister issue. Anybody able to help me out?

I know it's simplistic... but how about:
VALIANT 1990s
Acclaim
Valiant 2010s
Valiant DMG 2018+
Just those four labels to keep it simple for beginners and potential new collectors. They don't need any interpretation.
There is an overlap between the 2010s and 2018+, but it's self-explanatory in my opinion.
Everything up to 2018 was Valiant 2010s, and everything 2018+ is DMG.

The subcategories of pre-Unity or Acclaim-reboot-1998 are needed more for "experienced Valiant collectors" and don't have to be thrown at beginners.
Going beyond those 4 simple groupings, we could have a brief description of the subcategories:
VALIANT 1990s
- 1991-1992 Jim Shooter's VALIANT Universe, Pre-Unity, Unity, Rai #0
- 1990-1993 Nintendo, Wrestling, and product promotions
- 1993-1994 Post-Unity, most common issues (75% of printed books)
- 1995-1996 Acclaim takeover, final VH1 ('91-'96) issues, newsstand
Acclaim
- 1996-1997 Acclaim's Valiant Heroes reboot (VH2)
- 1998-2002 Acclaim's rebooted reboot (VH3)
Valiant 2010s
- 2012-2017 Dinesh Shamdasani's Valiant Universe, variant-explosion
Valiant DMG 2018+
- 2018-present DMG takeover
Then there's the potential to have a separate timeline for Turok, Solar, and Magnus which would include Dell, Gold Key, Whitman, the Valiant years, Dark Horse, etc.
There could be a Jim Shooter timeline which is pre-VALIANT and post-VALIANT for other companies.
There could be a Dinesh Shamdasani timeline which includes Bad Idea publications.
The Acclaim "other" imprints (Armada, Windjammer) could be discussed.

Re: Is it time we all adopted new vernacular to differentiate between the different Valiant's?
Yea, this looks about right. The only thing I would change is that DMG should probably say 2019+. Most of the 2018 stories were stragglers from the 2010's era, specifically Kindt's X-O, Ninja-K, Diggle's Shadowman, Bloodshot Salvation, Rahal's Q&W, HW2, and Britannia 3. Faith: Dreamside is debatable, seeing as it was included in the new regime's 'Beyond Valiant' initiative, but it was also written by Jody Houser, which obviously follows up on her previous work on Faith. Bloodshot Rising Spirit and Livewire began in November and December respectively, so they're basically 2019 series anyway.greg wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 10:00:42 am The subcategories of pre-Unity or Acclaim-reboot-1998 are needed more for "experienced Valiant collectors" and don't have to be thrown at beginners.
