1992 Harbinger #3 Manufactured with Heavy Miscut
It looks as though the comic shifted during the cutting process. I thought it was interesting that it could not fit vertically into a comic bag and board (it is about a half inch too long to fit upright). So, it has to fit diagonally (as they placed it in the CGC case). When I sent it in for Signature Signing with CGC they e-mailed me and asked if I wanted to go with a “Non-Grading” option since a good portion of the comic was cut away. I didn’t know that “Non-Grading” was an option... so I went with it (rather than a distracting low grade). The comic was manufactured without a coupon. Shooter wrote “Extreme Cutting Error!” Across the top.
I just thought I would share with the board as it is a little odd and interesting to me.

How did you come into possession of this copy?
Reckon some poor soul paid cover price for this?

Re: 1992 Harbinger #3 Manufactured with Heavy Miscut
I got it off of EBay from Keycomics in 2017. He sold Valiant in his comic shop in the 90s. Here is what he had to say when I asked about it and other pre-unity issues:
keycomics:
We bought multiple cases of Harbinger 3 when it came out, and this was found in one of the sealed cases, and it was the only one, I don't know if any other copies like this exist, it may very well be the only one that there is like this.
I do have other unused early Valiants, including Solar 3 (which I have running now in my store.) However, I just sold out of Archer golds, and sold out a long time ago on the Harbinger 1's. I think I am out of X-O 4's, although I do have more of the others 1-10 from that series.
Cordially,
Robert

VEI should have done a CGC replica cover like this.
Egad, a base tone denotes a bad age!

- Especially "dude." And "balls." Those terms work in the tech industry.

Love this! I have a few crazy copies like this. And a December 2020 signing! Just as rare in the age of COVID!

This is the comic laying on top of a regular issue of Harbinger #3, with the top edges even, so you can see the difference in height from top to bottom.

I found this on the racks when the book was released. I should have picked it up; would have a neat curiosity, but I put it back:

That is interesting. The cover shifted before stapling and cutting. I have not seen a cover slip that far before.kjjohanson wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 10:59:13 am I found this on the racks when the book was released. I should have picked it up; would have a neat curiosity, but I put it back:
