KT is available in trade dress (1000 copies), virgin (300), and virgin with white background only (300).
Signed and slabbed versions are available too.
The interview is quite interesting, too. About doing business with and collecting exclusive variant during these times.

So something DID happen while I was gone. Not much, but SOMEthing
I've been looking everywhere for the ultra-rare Turok vs Blister issue. Anybody able to help me out?

Doesn't seem to be much action on these considering there is still availability on a print run of only 300......

That has seemed to be the case for many exclusives the last couple of years. But it seems like a really good bet if you think Valiant has a good future. Understandably, a lot of people don't right now. High risk/reward in investing in current Valiant books. I bought a few of the regular edition of #10. They were cheap because I pre-ordered and they have a couple of first appearances of characters that were in the movie and that the movie suggests will be recurring if more movies are made. And the A cover has some funky Bisley art.

And even ratio books. Seriously if there is a collecting resurgence in a decade by a new generation (which I find doubtful) but if there is, then 2010 - Current ratio books are going to be the book movers from this era along with your Sam Alexander's and your Miles Morales'.kjjohanson wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 7:52:33 amThat has seemed to be the case for many exclusives the last couple of years.
Ehhh. Well. Is anyone investing in this publisher at this point? I mean if you are collecting then there isn't any risk because you are buying what you enjoy.kjjohanson wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 7:52:33 amHigh risk/reward in investing in current Valiant books.
Oh. Well. You're investing.

Generally speaking, if something has a print run of 300 - 800 copies and it's something I'm even remotely into then I get on board. Even Marvel's 2nd and 3rd printings nowadays only have runs of several hundred copies. You could do nothing but collect Marvel 2nd & 3rd print books of the era and have one of the most unique and lowest print-run collections around. And people don't pay attention to those books but if you look around many of them have just dried up completely on the market. Gone.

Re: KT making her 1st cover appearance on BS #10 exclusive
So this is probably a naive question but why would Marvel ever bother to do such small runs of later printings? If Marvel needs 1000 copies of a book for reorders I would think that falls under the "sorry, deal with it Mr. Retailer" threshold.

Re: KT making her 1st cover appearance on BS #10 exclusive
I'm not sure of the exact policy, and things are so convoluted nowadays that anything that seems like normal rationale could be completely off base. But if I had to guess?
Second printings have always been "special events" meant for underordered books that saw market explosion. And so I think from a publishing perspective, 2nd printings are seen as a way to satiate that smaller group of readers who missed out on a release. You do 2nd printings from a business perspective so as not to alienate an angry audience who wants your product. So you don't go in big on the printing because you are only creating filler material that has already been on the market. It's born of market analysis.
And on this note, remember that a reprint is actually already a proven product - moreso than it's first print was. The first print had to hit market to see the results, but the reprint might be a guaranteed sale because it's putting material out there that was proven to be in demand from the results of the first print. And so publishers are probably more willing to gamble on a smaller economy of scale.
From a collector's perspective, 2nd and 3rd printings have an easier home in a collection than they used to. 2nd prints were frowned upon back in the day. But now we've changed the narrative on collecting. Reprints aren't frowned upon as easily when you can now consider them "variants". It's consumer psychology.
But make no mistake about it - 2nd and 3rd prints are going to be the new "post-flip newsstand" books of the future.

Re: KT making her 1st cover appearance on BS #10 exclusive
I agree with this sentiment. Additional printings are covered and will continue to be so. Which is why Bad Idea’s release yesterday on “not first printing” was so smart.
As for these store exclusives, I can’t think of any Valiant store exclusives that are more valuable than $4. Yet, none of them actually cost $4 (except the odd one you might find in a store, like the now closed Comics Dungeon).
I’ve been haphazardly collecting them, but gave up. I just couldn’t track them all, and was not a fan of paying $10-20, and sometimes more for these things.
Still, I do think they are a fun collecting niche and it really is fun for the stores to be able to do these projects. Who wouldn’t want their own Valiant cover?

I generally don't bother with the store exclusives, unless I can get them at a good price (including the shipping), but this exclusive for Bloodshot 10 seemed like a good bet. At the very least, I won't regret picking this one up if I do, but it might be hard to get it later.nycjadie wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 11:01:09 amI agree with this sentiment.
