Record price for Turok Game?
Turok Seeds of Evil N64 9.8 A++ sold at auction yesterday for $925, including buyer's premium.
I believe that is a record for any Valiant game. I imagine the perfection in condition was the driver in the price here, and there is likely no other graded this high at this time.

Re: Record price for Turok Game?
For this amount of money you almost get all the pre-Unity #1's in 9.8. (I said almost.)
$1,300 for a 7.5 GoldenEye -- this is beyond madness!!! It's probably one of the best video games ever. I played this before, during, and after school back in the day. But 4 digits for a 7.5 only?!? For a game that had been sold way more often than Turok, Dinosaur Hunter (game & comic combined). Damn, in hindsight, it seems like it was a huge mistake that I sold my copy a few years ago. It wasn't 7.5 though.
What's "Buyer's Premium"? Is this just another (weird) term for the fee that goes to HA?

An item that sells through Heritage Auctions tends to give 29% to Heritage, and 71% to the seller.magnusr wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 4:21:17 amYesSunlight on Snow wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 4:00:50 am What's "Buyer's Premium"? Is this just another (weird) term for the fee that goes to HA?

Here's how:
The item ends at $1,000.
Heritage pays the seller $850 because the seller pays 15% to Heritage.
The item costs the buyer $1,200 because the buyer's premium is 20%.
Heritage receives $1,200.
Heritage pays the seller $850.
Heritage keeps $350 out of $1,200. (29.17%)
The market price is $1,200 because the buyer paid $1,200 to obtain the item.
The seller got $850.

I have a feeling that there are several people that are super video game collectors and focus on trying to get the best graded collection possible. There has to be more than a few with the prices I've seen. They aren't Turok collectors, they probably never played all the games, but they are video game nostalgia mega fans. It's my guess.

Okay.....calling it "buyer's premium" doesn't seem to be so weird after all!greg wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 9:43:42 amAn item that sells through Heritage Auctions tends to give 29% to Heritage, and 71% to the seller.magnusr wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 4:21:17 amYesSunlight on Snow wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 4:00:50 am What's "Buyer's Premium"? Re: Record price for Turok Game?
They get you both ways! Many years ago I bought an item - an old 1940s Captain America badge. Super cool. I moved to location with a high tax rate, and between that the buyer's premium I was incredibly surprised at how much more it cost - essentially 30% more! At that point forward, I always built in tax and the premium into my computation. I way overpaid for that item, but at least it's in very nice condition and looks great on the shelf.Sunlight on Snow wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 10:42:52 amOkay.....calling it "buyer's premium" doesn't seem to be so weird after all!greg wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 9:43:42 amAn item that sells through Heritage Auctions tends to give 29% to Heritage, and 71% to the seller.magnusr wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 4:21:17 amYesSunlight on Snow wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 4:00:50 am What's "Buyer's Premium"? I felt the same way when eBay began automatically charging sales tax on behalf of sellers, instead of letting the sellers decide whether it's necessary. I understand why they are doing it, and the policy behind the law change, but I do not like it, and it makes all those small purchases seem incredibly expensive after shipping and tax.

Re: Record price for Turok Game?
Except, Heritage, at least for comics, is well aware of what ComicLink and Metropolis charge so how much the buyers premium Heritage keeps vs going to the seller is highly negotiable. Perhaps unsurprisingly with a little negotiation the real fee to the seller is inline with the other two places. Although if you don’t ask I am sure Heritage is happy to get the full 29%.greg wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 9:43:42 amAn item that sells through Heritage Auctions tends to give 29% to Heritage, and 71% to the seller.magnusr wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 4:21:17 amYesSunlight on Snow wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 4:00:50 am What's "Buyer's Premium"? Here in Germany eBay still distinguishes between professional businesses that have to add sales tax on their side and private persons/sellers who don't.nycjadie wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 11:19:17 am I felt the same way when eBay began automatically charging sales tax on behalf of sellers, instead of letting the sellers decide whether it's necessary.
