Love to see the Villalobos Ivar 2 on there. It's been a favorite of mine. I had SUCH a hard time getting copies when it first came out. Villalobos is such a lovely guy too. I have sketch cover from him for Ivar that I covet. The #3 1:20 is a great book too. I bought another one this last week!

I adore the 1% book, and purchased MKB's 9.6 last week as well!

Great to see the Harby 1 1:20 rise in the ranks! That's the biggest surprise to me here.

I love these lists and it is great to see different books on the list month to month. I appreciate the time you take to do them each month DBS

However I think it is a sad state of affairs how few VEI books are selling publicly. The Ivar 2 1:40 only had one sale and at $152.50 it made the list in 8th place. I think a number of the books on the list only had 1 sale in the month.

I still think way more highly desired VEI books trade hands privately than in the public eye. I look at my collection. including my purchases this August, which had a number of books that would have made this list, and less than 10% of the VEI slabs I have bought were ever publicly offered and I assume many others on this board are the same.

Yeah.... I was the buyer of the lone sale of a “S.S. CGC 9.8 Ninjak #1 Gold“ on eBay for $140.00 which put it in 9th place. Not many VEI sales happening.

I think many of the books on the list (including 1st and 2nd place) possibly are there due to a single sale. I wonder if they could be all single sales? IDK... I think the carbon fiber had 2 sales.... and maybe the 1% gold had a couple.

It will be my second, but this would be my third! I had a 9.4 I sold a few years ago (for $1700 at the time, to help offset my purchase of the 9.8). I think this particular one went below recent current value. I chalk it up to COVID and people holding onto their dollars. I'll trade it at some point. I love original art covers, so always scouting for those!

I bought a 9.4:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/154047686227

Someone else bought a 9.0 just a few weeks earlier for just about the same price.

There is another one in raw condition that I think is up for $1500. I can't recall. All on eBay.

Are you going to cross it over to a CGC slab or leave it as CBCS?

I'm not sure yet. I'll have to look at it. I know that pressing is not likely an option, but not sure exactly what the defects are. I've not found CBCS to be consistent with CGC, so I'm not sure if it will be a nicer or less nice book than a CGC 9.4.

I've also thought about cracking it and getting it signed by the creators. I love collecting a slab and then a signed copy.

What would you do?

This is certainly the most beautiful Cat Cosplay cover. That cat is boss!

I'd also like to thank Greg for giving me one of the Doug Braithwaite variants. Love it!

I mean here it seems to be rare and hot yet it was one of the free giveaways during Greg's G20. So cool.

I have asked three times to different people who work at Valiant what the print run is and I can't get a straight answer on this particular Exclusive..

I hadn't thought about getting it signed (for CGC Signature Series), but that would be a neat thought since it doesn't appear to be 9.8.
There's a pretty strong debate about getting otherwise "near perfect" books signed when some consider signatures (especially decades later) as damaging the book... and further debate about whether actors chosen decades later should ever sign original books... but for a 9.4 (or a 9.2 to 9.6, once it's regraded), creator signatures could be a nice bonus on an otherwise "lower grade" (for this particular book) issue.

I remember meeting Kevin VanHook around 2004-2005 and asking him about Bloodshot #0 Platinum and he told me that it was not created "on purpose" as far as Valiant editors and the creators were aware. It's likely that someone in marketing or playing around during the printing process was responsible, but there's still a chance that it was an accident (or experiment) that became a novelty.

In other words, there are lots of creators who might sign it - but I'd put Kevin VanHook on there (as well) if it was up to me.

Kevin is definitely who I was thinking of, for sure! It would be really fun. I was supposed to meet him this year at ECCC and the Bloodshot pre-screening, but to no avail! Covid squashed that!
