Quantum & Woody 2017 Foil Covers Question - Do more exist???
I have a question about Quantum & Woody 2017 Foil Covers. I had been under the assumption that there were only 2 foil covers for each issue in the 1-7 run and one foil cover for each issue in the 8-12 run. A regular foil variant and then a second color foil variant that was released 1:20 for the first 7 issues.
Then I came across this eBay auction:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/QUANTUM-AND-WO ... 2749.l2649
which listed 5 different versions of the #1 foil. The 1:20 foil cover plus 4 different variations of the regular foil cover.
My question is for issues 2-12 of the series did this continue where they released each cover using multiple foil versions. If so how many foil versions exist for each issue and are some rarer than the others. Based on what the seller writes in this auction description for issue 1 not all were released in equal numbers.
Does anybody have more information on this?

I'm pretty sure they only did those five different variations for the first issue. I'm not sure if they were in equal numbers though.

I remember them being different ratios. Can't remember which is the most rare. I think the orders were too high on the foil covers and they ran out of the old foil a few times so they had to use different ones

Thanks for the info.
Based on what the auction said “top two corners were distributed approximately 1 for every 2.4 and the two on the bottom approximately 1 in every 13 based on the contents of sealed cases” would seem to indicate that if you had 154 copies two of the issues would have 12 copies and two would have 65 copies so two of the issues are 5.5x rarer (roughly) than the other two.

So for 1 copy of the 1:20 the distributed ratio would have been roughly.....magnus20009 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 8:07:01 pm Thanks for the info.

7-9 copies are variant #1 (supposedly top left; according to the seller)
7-9 copies are variant #2 (supposedly top right; "")
1-2 copies are variant #3 (supposedly bottom left; "")
1-2 copies are variant #4 (supposedly bottom right; "")
I believe the ratio is about right but #1 (fireworks) and #4 (bird's eye) are the more scarce while #2 (flat) and #3 (circles) are more frequent. Judging from what's been available and offered it even seems as if #4 (bird's eye) was scarcer than #1 (fireworks).
I've got #3 (circled) from simply ordering 1 COVER B. What about you guys?

By the way, the same seller is offering this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/383501209722
...meaning there are at least 6 different versions of the #1 FOIL:
(1) Colorless Gradient
(2) Circles
(3) Fireworks
(4) Bird's Eye
(5) 1:20 Colorful Gradient
(6) some Fireworks with an EMBOSSED ERROR (that looks nice somehow)

I haven't seen that error. However, I'm not sure I get why it's an error. Is the embossing press off?Sunlight on Snow wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 8:21:31 am By the way, the same seller is offering this:

Yes, the "QUANTUM + WOODY!" print isn't perfectly on the embossing press.nycjadie wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 10:02:18 amI haven't seen that error. However, I'm not sure I get why it's an error. What are the odds they produced an EMBOSSED ERROR for each different version of the #1 FOIL on purpose?
Because, like you said, it doesn't even seem to look like a "real" error.

That seems like a pretty minor error. The ink didn’t line up exactly 100% correctly but still pretty close. I’m not going to include it in my list of errors as that is so minor. I am sure you could find plenty of embossed books from all companies where the paper didn’t line up 100% exactly with the printing press. In a regular cover this wouldn’t be noticed but on an embossed cover you can notice it.

Agreed. It's a peculiar printing error, not an unintended editorial or publishing error. It's also not as interesting as a double cover, or a major offset cut.magnus20009 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 10:56:29 am That seems like a pretty minor error.
