Looks like Valiant is just a stepping stone for a lot of these people.

Yeah but can you blame them? Netflix probably offered more money and definitely has more prestige.

I read a lot of resumes when hiring, and a lot of people change jobs every 36 months or less.

Earning a job in marketing at Netflix is pretty good. I can't imagine a lot of people would turn that opportunity down so I don't think anyone can really hold that against him.

I have several friends at Netflix, and that used to be at Netflix.....

Mixed blessing for sure.

Hes done a lousy job. Very little marketing from that guy.

Hey guys as is usually the story with DMG there is a lot more to this story. It is not mine to say what happened of course. Allow me to say I will miss Mel. I gave him , and to be fair several at DMG a hard time. Unlike those others Mel handled it with grace. He understood the criticism was coming from a place of passion for the brand. He understood that he had big shoes to fill. When we first met he was the only person who stayed at the table and listened to everything I had to say. I was representing the fans and he listened. 4 other people from Valiant got up and walked away. That was my first meeting with Mel. I admired him for taking it. He had no answers at that time, but he stayed and listened. He is a nice guy. I can’t say how well he did his job, but honestly I can’t give feedback on many people at DMG. They have lied to my face. I know it. They have dodged questions. They have refused to answer things. They have told me the truth technically, knowing that they were walking the finest of lines. I have always given them the respect by never naming names or talking about what happened, or what was said. I come here to publicly say goodbye to Mel, a bright a friendly face at cons who will be missed.

Who said it was a job in marketing?

Mel is a long time personal friend of mine, way before he was at Valiant, or even Boom. I have known Mel since Top Cow days, then Archaia and everything after, and he's one of the nicest people I have ever met. The dude is a sweetheart. Gentle giant. I have always felt that marketing was not his thing, specially the way comic book marketing is cutthroat for the exposure. What he's doing at Netflix has NOTHING to do with that, at all. He's done with Comics (at least for now) and I envy him a little bit :) It's a tough grind and I have been doing it for 25 years.
