That's cool. This isn't in production yet? Is it?
I thought it was stuck in the dreaded "planning stage" for who knows how long.

Re: DMG: Faith Twitter Post
I think Faith's kind of a hard pill to swallow for a lot of people. I mean she's a young, geeky, silly, optimistic fangirl, with floaty powers. She'll appeal to a lot of people certainly, but I really think it would be a better idea to start with Harbinger so she can win over everyone first.

Understood Dinesh. But also understand that we do not all understand of the inter-workings between DMG, Valiant, and Sony.dino wrote:DMG aren't involved in any of the movies at Sony.
Folks are interested in any information of course, and DMG’s tweet “appears” to be an indication of things to come.
However, as you say they are NOT involved, then it now “appears” that this is simply the DMG PR and/or Marketing team attempting to stir up interest and/or hype without any real new information and/or substance than anyone else might already possess.
We know the plan and intent as announced a few years back, and we know that at a minimum, Sony’s Bloodshot is set for release in Feb 2020.
Beyond this, not much is known.

If testing of Bloodshot is going well, it could mean Harbinger is being greelit a la the original Sony plans that were out there years back now. That could include the use of Faith and DMG is just, as you say, "attempting to stir up interest and/or hype."DirtbagSailor wrote:Understood Dinesh. While they may not be involved in the production, it doesn't mean they don't know what is going on as they are still the ultimate owners of the IPs and would likely be tying in marketing and publications.

I like the way you used the plural “movies.” Hopefully there is a second movie coming along and you are heavily involved again! Could Harbinger be in production?dino wrote:DMG aren't involved in any of the movies at Sony.

Excuse my naivety, but I'm sorry I just don't get it. Didn't DMG buy Valiant specifically so they could make movies? What's the point of a huge company like DMG buying a tiny comic book company, just to sell more comics?dino wrote:DMG aren't involved in any of the movies at Sony.
Re: DMG: Faith Twitter Post
It's possible that DMG doesn't have any creator control over the movies that have already been contracted out to Sony. That doesn't necessarily mean that they won't force control in the future, but right now they may not have any authority on what movies are made.TheFerg714 wrote:Excuse my naivety, but I'm sorry I just don't get it. Re: DMG: Faith Twitter Post
How complicated are the rights to Marvel characters in the movies? Shouldn't X-Men help defeat Thanos? Where is Mr. Fantastic to work with Tony Stark? The Silver Surfer would be somewhere in the galaxy, right?Jrosen wrote:It's possible that DMG doesn't have any creator control over the movies that have already been contracted out to Sony. Nope.
Disney bought Marvel 10 years ago and the 22 movies of Thanos build-up storyline don't mention several major Marvel characters.
Why would DMG already have everything cleared up for Valiant movies with Sony if Disney can't get flagship household Marvel characters for movies after owning them for a decade?

Re: DMG: Faith Twitter Post
I trust Dino and all, and I know he IS involved as an EP on the movies at Sony, but I find it hard to believe DMG knows NOTHING about the plans. Being involved and being informed are totally different things. Do they know who's being cast as Pete Stanchek? Probably not. Do they know when a Harbinger film is planned on being released or beginning filming? I'd assume so.
You can compare it to the Disney/Fox stuff, but Disney knew when films would be released and what characters were involved and would put out comics focused on those characters to their benefit. And those were timed to coincide with the films. It takes time to produce such items and they can't wait for a film to be released to start that process.

I think it's that DMG/Valiant sold the option to Sony to create the movies.BugsySig wrote:I trust Dino and all, and I know he IS involved as an EP on the movies at Sony, but I find it hard to believe DMG knows NOTHING about the plans. Re: DMG: Faith Twitter Post
Yeah. I know they’re not involved in production and distribution of the films at Sony. But I believe it’s customary to be kept informed of basics (though not necessarily). I would say they know more than you or I know, but less than Dino.lorddunlow wrote:I think it's that DMG/Valiant sold the option to Sony to create the movies.BugsySig wrote:I trust Dino and all, and I know he IS involved as an EP on the movies at Sony, but I find it hard to believe DMG knows NOTHING about the plans. DMG knows nothing. Talk to them and they will tell you as much. What goes out online is vague and misleading on purpose. Trust the people speaking directly to you and not the vague tweets or other posts that say nothing. Even the tweet at the top... what has DMG done to make this universe diverse? The answer is simple..nothing. These characters and the diverse writers is why they bought the company.. they haven't made anything yet.. even the series are things that were announced over a year ago. I understand we all want new information... hopefully we will get some sometime soon, other than cancelled series or dropping values of the company.
