I posted this over on the CGC boards; they're claiming "every issue of every title" which suggests the inclusion of Legends of the Geomancer. I tweeted Valiant to confirm whether that's included, but haven't gotten a response yet.

The Valiant Entertainment website now says "…every issue that has been digitally released…" so I guess no Legends of the Geomancer.

That sucks. To be honest, that debacle was when I stopped reading for the most part. I'm a digital reader. To never release it in a legal digital form (but to allow many people who aren't with the company have the files digitally) really turned me off to the company. The DMG buyout and cleaning of house put the nail in the coffin.

I did eventually obtain them through questionable means, but I would have purchased them legally if they had been made available.

I ended up scanning some so I could have a digital copy. I don't want to have to go through boxes to find them to read them. I do all of my re-reads in trades or digitally.

I do a lot of this too. If I buy comics, I'll always buy physical comics, but rather than going though the longbox for a re-read I just grab my tablet and get on my HMS with it.

What if I just want the film cards and don’t care about the locklizard comic files. I HATE locklizard. My experience with them is it is almost impossible to use something DRMed by them on more than one machine and heaven forbid you ever upgrade machines. It has been a few years since I bought anything that used locklizard so maybe they are better now but at the very least they used to be terrible.

Just sell the thumbdrive, recoup some of the costs, and keep the extra stuff. :thumb:

This. The thumbdrive holds all of the books, so it can be plugged into and device with a USB port. The other end plugs into an iphone or ipad.

I do wonder if the "facsimile" X-O reprint is totally unique to this offer. That would make it a pretty limited book, since they're only selling 500 of the Platinum limited edition.

I ordered the limited set with the special viewer stuff.

Received this email today
Dear Customer,

Due to a major design issue in the manufacturing of the FILMCARDS & Viewer, the release date for the Valiant Complete Digital Comic Book Collection – Platinum Edition has been moved back approximately 3 months. New release date is now scheduled for August 22nd, 2019.

As a token of our appreciation for being a loyal customer, we are going to ship you a free copy of Valiant Complete Digital Comic Book Collection ($60 value). This product will ship out on or before June 01, 2019. As there was a minor issue in manufacturing for this product. Quality is very important to us and a happy and satisfied customer.

This free copy is only available to customer that are willing to wait on the new release date for the Valiant Complete Digital Comic Book Collection and is a gift for your loyal support and patience.

Support Team
I am concerned because my credit card has ALREADY BEEN CHARGED. I don't know if this is an ADDITIONAL COPY of the set (seems okay...) or if they are simply sending out the first part of my order (MAKES ME NERVOUS...)

But just wanted to keep everyone aware...

Sounds like everyone gets the thumbdrive at the same time, then the full Platinum premium sets (filmcards, X-O reprint, and thumbdrive) will arrive later.

Keeping my fingers crossed...

But it doesn't sound like a deal, either. When the 'bonus' is getting part of what I ordered at a slightly delayed time... Instead of the whole order when I was initially promised...

Not entirely a token of appreciation...

"Free copy" suggests to me an *additional* copy. It's not free if I already paid for it; it's just a partial fill. I'm okay with that if everything else ships as advertised, especially as it allows me to leave the "limited" drive untouched.

Based on the address in the confirmation email, it looks like this is a company that someone is running from their home.

Received a reply today.
Hi Kevin,

Yes, you will be getting 2 products, the original Valiant Collection ($60) and the Valiant Platinum ($90). The original will ship out June 01, 2019 and the Platinum will ship out August 22, 2019.

The site has been updated yesterday, thanks for your input.

All pre-sales are always charged at the time of the order, since products are manufactured according to order volumes. If your products do not ship, you will always be able to cancel order for a complete refund.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

An additional update
Dear GIT Customer,

Re: Valiant Complete Digital Comic Book Collection

Due to the China trade wars with the US, our delivery from our manufacturer has been delayed a few more days in customs. We do have a FEDEX confirmation for delivery to us on Thursday June 06th, 2019. We will examine and review all products and ship out on Friday June 07th, 2019 and an email with tracking number will be emailed to you at that time.

We are very sorry for these delays, but they are out of our control and appreciate all your patience in this matter.

Which is why we should put tariffs on the printed material to such a point that some private concern can print it in North America* for roughly the same cost to print it over there and ship it over here. Make it known that Americans can make a buck printing those comics here and someone will get into the business and print them here. Increase the cost of bringing foreign printed matter into the US. Jobs are created in the US, the money paid to the printers is kept on our shores and we have increased our ability for industrial output. It is like the tyrant Lincoln said about the trains.

* - I say North America because I know before they started printing comics in China, most comics were printed in Canada.

Yes, this will raise the price on the consumer on the front end. But it will also create jobs and increase our GDP with the added benefit of, at least in the short-term, shift a bit of the burden from taxes to tariffs and save those same consumers on the back end. The increased costs will only be paid by those who buy (of their own volition!) the foreign printed materials.

My guess is that this would destroy printed comics completely. I would no longer buy comics that cost $10+. For us to stay at the front of any cost measure, we need to do something new - not keep doing what is old.

Increasing costs does not bring jobs. It eliminates consumers.

Surely we could print pamphlet-type comic books in America for less than $10 each. Even with minimum wage laws.

In an industry that has lost 90 percent of its readership over the last 20 years, doubling (PLUS!) the cost of comic books is a terrible idea.

I won't even begin to tackle how completely contradictory this is to basic economic theory or comparative advantage other than to say ideas like this if implemented will make almost everyone poorer in the USA and China. There will be very few winners in those countries from the trade war, and those that win will be people exploiting inefficiencies created by it and not end consumers.

It would be a disaster of epic proportions.
