It's not allowed (I don't think) but it's in Tonga so perhaps beyond the reach of US law?

Internet Porn? I found this one Wonder Woman parody with Anissa Kate, and it's pretty --

Oh! You mean online comics. I mean I would consider porn and smartphones to be the greatest things since sliced bread, but whatever floats your boat.

Technically I'm fairly certain that website pirates all the comics it lets you stream. It's not legal for them do according to U.S. law, but enforcing U.S. law in foreign countries can be difficult. Internet pirates tend to operate through the same loopholes as hackers that deal in cyber crime. If you're going to browse the dark web, I'd recommend turning your internet security on. Pirates tend to work side by side with identity thieves, and Jared from Subway, if you know what I mean. It's unlikely that the site is literally operated from Tonga. The fact that everything is in English suggest that the servers are stationed in Tonga, and the site administrators operate it remotely from the U.S. Looks like these guys are part of the same group of pirates who operate the Kiss Anime site that kids have been going to a lot lately.

Chances are Valiant is aware of their existence, but unable to file for a copyright strike due the server location issue. If traffic starts to pick up though, it'll put them under the radar of more companies that would want them shut down. I'm not aware of all the nuanced details of that process, but I'm certain it takes some time.

Come on guys, this is illegal and just plain wrong. Sorry, but I have personally dealt with pirating of music for a long time and enjoying the work of artists without compensating them for their labor is just wrong.

I agree, and I'm not a digital reader so there's no attraction. But yeah, the comic book industry needs all the sales it can get.

I don't think there's anything wrong with reading comics online that you couldn't find elsewhere. Even Dinesh tacitly said it was okay to read Legends of the Geomancer "elsewhere," if you don't have the money or access.

And now he doesn't work there anymore... so that really means nothing at this point.

Don't steal comics. Pay for them, or go to the library. There have also been many cheap digital options.

The same logic would equate taxation with larceny. Both are differentiated by one simple idea: permission.

Another huge difference is the question of who benefits from something. Books are free at the library, but only because the library compensated the publisher before hand for you to read there. None of the publishers whose books are on pirated sites profit from their merchandise being distributed there. It's same reason why some many game developers pulled the plug on development for PC games during the early 2000s until things settled down in the early 2010s. Video game piracy got out of hand that smaller developers decided it just wasn't worth the trouble of porting games to the PC when they can more of a profit on consoles. That's the main reason why Fable II was never released on PC even though Fable The Lost Chapter was. Hell, it's been years since a Final Fantasy game has been released on PC, but that likely has more to do with the expense of a gaming PC in Japan vs a console.

Valiant is a small publisher. Every sale helps to keep them afloat. Especially since it's unlikely they're making a profit at this point. We don't want to give MORE incentive for DMG to close the doors. So it's probably not the best idea to encourage people to just pirate the comics instead. I can't tell you what to do personally, but at the very least don't share the links.

I get that. You've got that freedom to do what you want, but I'm not sure if this is the place advertise where to pirate Valiant comics considering it's the closet thing to an official forum.

Plus DMG should close their doors, the books looks like ametuer hour at best..Better to have the characters move on to their next life in a better home than the Chinese govt sweatshop enabelers..
It's kind of an abomination..
That new bloodshot book looks like something that came with a box of cereal in the 80s

The idea still holds water. If it is literally impossible, or would cost an inordinate amount of money, I don't see a problem with reading some things online. Obviously, if there's something you want to read, you should definitely check every resource possible to do it legally, but if that doesn't work I don't think anyone would be losing anything if a reader were to read said comic online. I think it all comes down to personal restraint. Case in point: Legends of the Geomancer. I refuse (and more importantly, literally don't have enough money) to pay $20-100 for something that wouldn't even be a big deal if I never read it. Similarly, I would be very annoyed if I wasn't aware of the HW2 #0 campaign, but really wanted to read it. In that case, what's really the harm in reading it online? Who are you hurting exactly? Some dude on Ebay?
