She has alot of redeeming to do. Especially after killing millons of people.

I haven't kept up with current books, but I must assume you are talking about Livewire?nonplayer wrote:She has alot of redeeming to do. Especially after killing millons of people.
Otherwise, its weird for Valiant to employ a known genocidal person.

Hey, I'm pretty skeptical, but that was a strong interview. Really appreciated a few of these statements (sorry, not gonna go back through a four-page interview to find some quotes).

Also who here hates on fresh untried comic book writers?
Re: Vita Ayala’s Livewire Ongoing Will Light Up the Valiant
I don't think anyone on here has hated on Vita, no one knows her (them?). I think it's fair that when a writer is announced the Valiant fans can look at their previous work, previous interviews, twitter profile etc. and have an opinion about whether they think the person fits the universe as a writer.AnarchoMambo wrote:Sounds completely awesome. When the first article that pops up on google is literally titled, "Up-and-Coming Writer Vita Ayala Explains Why They're Making Fiercely Political Comics", fans have a right to have an opinion about whether they're interested or not in reading "Fiercely Political" Valiant comics. I'm a staunch Democrat personally, but I also don't read superhero comics to read about or be preached to about politics. I'm looking for action, suspense, excitement, character arcs, etc just like I would read a crime/spy/sci-fi novel expecting those same things, namely - Entertainment.
Anyway reading this most recent interview is a little more promising, although lacking any specific details about the story that would excite me. Having never read Unity or Secret Weapons, all of my knowledge of Livewire comes from reading HW2. Nothing in that story has given me much of a grasp of her as a character, and definitely not made her seem sympathetic or heroic so based on that alone I'm not personally looking forward to this series.
I hope it's still ok to have an opinion that isn't "Everything Valiant is always Awesome" without it being considered "hate".

Re: Vita Ayala’s Livewire Ongoing Will Light Up the Valiant
Livewire is awesome. You should definitely read, well, everything! She's great in Harbinger, Unity, Secret Weapons, Imperium, Ninjak. She's amazing in To Kill a King and amazing in Armor Hunters. She's a great character, that's why she's getting her own series. But it's those expectations of how awesome she is and the randomness of HW2 that's keeping everyone at a distance. This series has a lot to live up to. And I'm not so sure post-Dinesh Valiant has it in them.

I am definitely looking forward to this. I don't mind seeing Livewire spread her wings and scaring the *SQUEE* out of people, a la Harada.

I read the first year or so of everything and then was out of all comics for some years there, only recently started getting back into new comics. I read mostly all of VH1, VH2, VH3, Unity 2k etc. as they came out.TheFerg714 wrote:Bro, you haven't read Imperium, To Kill a King, or Secret Weapons?Ryan wrote: Having never read Unity or Secret Weapons, all of my knowledge of Livewire comes from reading HW2. It's a problem though if new series like HW2 and Shadowman #1 can't be picked up and understood and enjoyed on their own terms by any new reader.

Re: Vita Ayala’s Livewire Ongoing Will Light Up the Valiant
The new 'ongoing' in DMG Valiant-era may only be 2 story arcs.
Joe Illidge in a recent interview with Previews World let it drop that the Bloodshot Rising Spirit ongoing is 8 issues.
Whilst it is great to see Livewire finally get her own series I'm not getting too excited until after HWII - still hoping the last issue and the aftermath issue can clean up the mess that this event has been...

Re: Vita Ayala’s Livewire Ongoing Will Light Up the Valiant
The power goes out all the time, everywhere, for a few minutes or a few hours. Sometimes, it's the electric company doing rolling brownouts to split energy usage. Is the electric company killing people?TheFerg714 wrote:You don't think the nationwide power-outage had any fatalities?greg wrote:Who did she kill?nonplayer wrote:She has alot of redeeming to do. Livewire controls the electrical grid. If everyone lost power for a few hours, that's no different than an electrical company rolling brownout or a local power loss due to weather or equipment failure. If she kept the power on for hospitals and nursing homes, great... if she didn't, they lose power once in a while anyway, so they have a plan or backup generators.
I'm not convinced Livewire caused any deaths for regular people (not involved in armed conflict), and certainly not seeing how the number could be "millions".
