I feel the same!

I have to say that I am enjoying this. Episode 5 was not a let down. The actors for Ninjak and Archer and Armstrong have turned it up a notch since the first episode. Once again, the actors are growing on me the more that I watch. I still really enjoyed the fighting scenes. The Archer and Armstrong humor seemed to be at its best in Episode 5.

I can see now how this fits the mold of a web series to gain interest from other investors pre-DMG complete ownership as has been previously stated. DMG doesn't have to worry about anyone else buying into Valiant now... so, I don't think it would hurt them to leave it on YouTube for fans. But, since they own it I guess they may take it down since it is pre-DMG and was designed to court other investors. I guess we will soon know.

Episode 5 was excellent... the series goes from strength to strength.

On Twitter the official Valiant account said this series is only available until 26th April, this is insane! How can the plan be to spend $1-2 million on the webseries then only show it for 5 days? :!:

Anyway, Bat in the Sun (and Dinesh) have done an outstanding job with this series. :high-five:

Armstrong was great! Definitely my favorite characterization so far! Him and the actress who plays Livewire really nailed it.

Episode 5... Ok, I think they could have done a little more with Archer's martial arts mastery, but what we got was highly entertaining! I had some real moments of fanboy glee watching A&A and Ninjak interact. Can't wait for the next episode!

DMG co-produced "Iron Man 3,” “Looper” and the recent “Transcendence”.

Hmm, it's not on their wiki (but that don't mean much), but going by this they had money invested in a lot more film projects than I realized:

Loving more and more with each episode. I wish I could watch one every day.

The 'bad cop' bit was hilarious and well done. The fight choreography is outstanding.

"Archer's in the fetal position and I got my head slammed in a door like thirty times, so yeah, I'd say it was convincing."

I don't knock Chantelle's Roku, with the smirking and over-expressiveness. What is she supposed to do? All she really gets to do is sit and react to Ninjak's dialogue and actions.

I honestly have no idea what "co-produced" even means. Did they just throw some money at these movies? I mean, really, Iron Man 3 would have been made, regardless of DMG's input and Transcendence sucked royally. So that just leaves Looper.

Glad to see our favorite fictional characters are in the hands of someone with almost nothing good on their resume! :thumb: facepalm

Re: Ninjak Vs is finally oInvesting in a project contributes

Post by kinggirlfriend »

Slow down, friend, I never said they were a movie making company. But to dismiss them as not having a hand in movie making is being disingenuous. Quality of previous said projects aside.

Investing in a project contributes to it's creation. Maybe not creatively, but creative people don't buy the rights to a publisher's catalog wholesale. They might piecemeal a single book by a single author. But usually corporations buy catalog and character rights.

Reading more about them it sounds like they started as a distribution company to import movies into Chinese theaters, then later started co-producing. Yes, that means contributing money.

Do you guys think Orson Welles is gonna crawl out of his grave holding hands with Louis B. Mayer so that they can make Valiant movies?

They're making a Bloodshot movie starring Vin Diesel, what else do you want?

For reference, Warner Bros. started out as a company that distributed films prior to financing films, and eventually becoming a full blown film studio. Netflix also started out distributing film and t.v. series through their streaming service before restructuring to produce original content. The fact that Netflix didn't start as a production studio is why the Netflix shows generally have so much creative freedom. Netflix isn't directly involved in the creation of many of their "original series".

Netflix is now a movie/t.v. making company despite not actually making many of their shows. Bojack Horseman is an example. Bojack is pitched as being an original Netflix series, but the companies behind actually making Bojack are Shadowmachine and the Tornate Company. Netflix only finances and distributes the show, as well as several other of their "Netflix Originals". Another example, Lost in Space is produced by Legendary Television.

DMG is a financing company. The thing is its not the first financing company to begin investing in original IPs. Several of the other current entertainment giants started out the exact same way. They started out licensing, and moved on to producing. Whether or not a Valiant Studios will be formed in the future is yet to be seen.

EDIT: Ironically Ninjak Vs. is already an example of this. The web-series is produced and created by BatintheSun, and funded by Valiant Digital.

I just finished watching the latest episode with Armstrong and Archer, and i loved it. The fight scenes are great and each episode is better than the previous one.
Im looking forward to watching it all before it gets taken down. And hopefully i can watch it as one continuous movie someday....

True. Her Roku-Duckface is probably written in the script. I did like the Episode 5 action for her hair. After watching the Venom trailer, it's like her hair is a red symbiote.

I agree that Roku's character hasn't had any action. This does make acting difficult since she is supposed to "look evil" while watching Ninjak through the nanites. This last episode will probably make Roku the focus of the final action. This should allow her a chance to bring more depth to the character. At least Chantelle Barry will get more opportunity to act.

We shall see later today.
