Was bound to happen given the other changes. That's just how the business world works. He did an amazing job running the show and deserves as much credit as anyone for VEI's success. This, however, could be the death knell for me with VALIANT. Those titles that have already been announced will be on my radar, and then it will be very interesting to see that happens next.

DC and Marvel are getting their game on.

Boom and Dynam1te have been promoted to the front of previews.

It is the wrong time for Valiant to have such huge upheaval. I worry for the strength of purpose in their publishing arm.

Edit: and with the news coming at the start of c2e2? That's unprecedented, surely.

Valiant is in an interesting position now. We know the new DMG overlords are all about farming out the IPs for movies and TV but where does that leave the comics? Are they going to continue to keep trucking along with the average of 8 - 9 titles a month or are they going to try to start getting more ambitious with new series and more universe building?

From a creative standpoint, I feel like continuity was pretty tight through Armor Hunters, but after that it seems like the various titles just kind of did their own thing without regard to what’s going on in the other titles. Like for example, Bloodshot USA. New York suffers a catastrophic nanite invasion and then what? I would think there would be one hell of an aftermath there with lots of repercussions.

Don’t get me wrong. I still love all their titles, but it seems like after Armor Hunters some of the stories just meandered a bit.

Maybe Harbinger Wars II is the start of something bigger for everyone. After that, it’s anyone’s guess what may happen. I just hope the new leadership is given the flexibility to be ambitious and do some cool attention getting stuff.

Final thought: Any chance in hell Jim Shooter could be invited back to the Valiant sandbox? Would definitely generate a ton of PR, which DMG is sorely lacking these days.

I was wondering when VEI was going to formally announce this and I'll hand it to them being out first thing this morning before all the C2E2 news started rolling out was a smart PR move. It got buried pretty quick on a VERY busy news day. Warren bringing in Karl Bollers to be his right hand man was more of a "I'm leaving and need someone to take over till they find a more permanent person to fill the position" reading between the lines in the press release last month or at least it seems that way.

This heartbreaking news because with Warren no longer there it also means artists like Mico and Lewis are done doing interior monthly work for Valiant after the last Dysart Harada project coming out next year. They will continue to do a cover here and there but losing them from the talent pool isn't good overall.

So to me it's not a matter of IF but a matter of WHEN the current line takes a nose dive in quality. Something major needs to happen to change my mind on this subject.

I'm NOT trying to be all Doom and Gloom but nothing since the DMG announcement has convinced me it's not history going to repeat itself NO one at DMG has said anything to us (the fans) granted they don't have too because we really aren't the people they need to capture, it's the people not reading VEI now they need. They are seriously putting all of there eggs in basket hoping "Bloodshot" is Amazing and saves the publishing line but if the line is low quality by the time the movie hits the screens does it really matter?

I see an Acclaim situation happening all over again. A new owner who has plans for these "big" characters outside of the comics. They *SQUEE* the properties out to anyone who will buy in an attempt to push them into film (because that's the current big thing). The publishing side withers even further and near the end we get a direct to video movie (instead of a video game) and a hard to find Valiant comic is given away in packaged with the DVD that we are all looking for ten years from now. It's the last comic they publish, except for an obscure "Warmother" one-shot that comes out seemingly for no reason at all in 2021.

There’s a bit of an assumption that DMG has no clue what they’re doing and will drive these properties into the ground. Although that may very well be true, let’s just wait and see what happens. As it stands now, my Valiant order to DCBS is usually under $20 so it’s not exactly breaking the bank to keep reading Valiant titles for the time being.

I agree, once Dinesh left I figured it was only a matter of time. They obviously want a shake-up.

But I'm not doom and gloom. While I like Warren and he did a great job, it's not like he's the only guy out there that can do the job well.

The proof is in the product. I am content to see how things look moving forward.
