Re: So about Shadowman......
I really hope not. We've said it before but the ropes make no sense anymore as he shed them at the end of Operation: Deadside.
I'm all for a consistent look for recognition purposes, but I'd like to see it streamlined a bit more.
I enjoy the supernatural aspects of Shadowman, but I think his street-level, urban superhero characteristics have been lost in the VEI version.

The ropes do make sense if he now controls them. He can keep them with him like a weapon, or as a disguise (if others in Deadside don't know he's now in control).

I don't buy it, but you're Greg, so OKgreg wrote:The ropes do make sense if he now controls them. He can keep them with him like a weapon, or as a disguise (if others in Deadside don't know he's now in control).

Re: So about Shadowman......
The ropes are already gone throughout Rapture. Jack's no longer controlled by Darque or anybody.
I'd be very disappointed to see the ropes again.

Re: So about Shadowman......
I dont care one way or the other about the ropes, but i very much prefer the Magpie look to the original Shadowman look. I think it fits a supernatural character better, maybe the old look was better for a street level hero, but it's obviously not what they are going to do with him.
I was never a fan of the scythe design either, I'd love to see that change. It hasn't occurred to me until now that it was collapsible but I hate the blade, it looks like a tribal tattoo or some ridiculous flea market weapon to me.

Eh, I prefer this design and don't have a problem with the scythe, but it seems like the Magpie look is here to stay.tell wrote:I dont care one way or the other about the ropes, but i very much prefer the Magpie look to the original Shadowman look. Mr shadow isn't my cuppa tea. But I wish Valiant would join Shadowman to haloween, fall and pumpkins. Each year a new mask.
I Miss the good old days.

Re: So about Shadowman......
Shadowman has been obviously the biggest disappointment for me so far in the VEI universe I sure hope they can correct it come March when the new ongoing is launched

I agree wholeheartedly, and would be fine if his look constantly changed.tell wrote:I dont care one way or the other about the ropes, but i very much prefer the Magpie look to the original Shadowman look. Re: So about Shadowman......
The new design is far better IMO. Obviously if he's going to be a street level hero them perhaps this is not the look to go for but I'm not sure that's the direction they're going in.
I haven't seen anything to make me want to pick up another Shadowman book, End Times was poor, Rapture was just 'ok'. Maybe it's just not the character for me.

Re: So about Shadowman......
Let's not forget the possible Shadowman costume seen in Book of Death #1. The masked man with the crowbar scene in the main group ... wish I had an image for it, but I'm pretty sure there has been posts on this before.
Regardless, my hope for this new series is to get Shadowman back to more of a street level hero. I'd like to see him be the scourge of everything bad that happens in New Orleans, and that everyone from common purse snatchers all the way to Master Darque fear the day they find out that Shadowman is on their tails.

Re: So about Shadowman......
Justin Jordan left a lot of storylines that could be picked up on to fulfill that idea (the whole Soma drug storyline). I'd love to see them take that approach for a while -- or just do something that's worthy of the character.Keith wrote:Let's not forget the possible Shadowman costume seen in Book of Death #1. The one part I hope they would keep is the full on skull look. With the right artist it really pops.BugsySig wrote:I really hope not. We've said it before but the ropes make no sense anymore as he shed them at the end of Operation: Deadside.

I'm fine with elements of the current look, just not crazy about the overall look. I'd like something in between the Zircher design and the Operation Deadside design.dornwolf wrote:The one part I hope they would keep is the full on skull look. I'll also add I'm intrigued by the baseball bat wielding design we saw teased waaaaaaay back before the VEI launch and again in BoD. Perhaps we will get a story where the Loa is trapped inside the mask at some point a la VH1 Shadowman, and we get some various people wearing it.
