Fans will never get a shot at this for retail price. We all know the shop owners will be pouring over each copy, digging out the "secret" books and putting them behind the register for a big markup.

I would think Valiant would discourage that kind of thing from LCS owners, as it defeats the purpose of the promo entirely.
Plus, not sure about your shops, but as far as I can tell, the only people buying Valiants at my LCS are me and maybe 2 other dudes. I always find the pre-order edition X-O's right on the rack. Not much of a market here. Anybody know if there is a precedent for this?

This is really cool and really makes me happy.
I think it will be hidden in the art and undistinguishable from the cover.
I also think it will be relatively easy to get so no need for the shop to pull it for higher re sale.

So glad I got a positive reviews from friends and decided to get this mini.

Does anyone know what we're looking for? Some code??

How about the codes from the future force teasers. That stuff came around around the same time as this writer came on the scene.
The codes could be hidden in the art or margins of the center page as that would probably be the easiest to replace with a changed page.

It's cool when shops do that and charge cover price. I just recently paid $15 for an X-O #3 Pre-Order Edition. At that price, I felt issues #1 & #2, (POE) should have been bundled up with issue #3, but it is what it is...

I am guessing that it just boils down to demand. Your shop can charge that premium price probably because they have multiple buyers.
As far as I can tell at my local shop, it's just me and maybe 2 other regular valiant buyers, tops. I didn't go today, but it would not surprise me if a pre-order X-O #3 was still sitting on the rack at my local joint. (Which by the way, is insane to me. The world is missing out)


And I actually worded my original post poorly, I was asking if there is precedent for LCS's selling a promo, like the SW code, at a higher-than-cover price? I guess there is if they are doing it even with pre-order editions. Bummer

I really can't see this happening. The impression I get is that most retailers are literally stocking the minimum amount of Valiant possible: books for their customers' pull lists and a handful for the racks each month.

I doubt the vast majority of retailers will even know this is going on, let alone go to efforts to try to find out if they've randomly been sent one or not for the purpose of exploiting it for an inflated profit.

I agree. Same at my LCS. I think I'm going to ask the owner about it this week when I get my Wednesday Valiants. Hopefully it's something the shops can request.

Randomly inserted into the print run of SECRET WEAPONS #1’s A cover by interior artist Raul Allen, the SECRET WEAPONS #1 SECRET EDITION is indistinguishable from the A cover except for subtle differences that will not be revealed officially.

Based on that quote from the article, it sounds to me like an alteration on the cover itself. Seems like it shouldn't be that hard to find differences in that all pink cover with Livewire's picture and the title being the only things on there. I'll have to ask my LCS to see all the copies of the books he got. I wonder if this includes the pre-order bundle editions or not?
