Re: Book of the Month - January 2017
It may not be the most popular choice, but Harbinger Renegade 3 was well, sadly delicious. Solomon attacked each of the characters strengths and weaknesses at the same time, exposing more than just their weaknesses, but their inner weaknesses, their fragile mindsets. Pete.... Man, Pete was just soul crushed! Worse than being kicked in the junk, he was pushed deep into his addiction, and he begged for it! He literally begged for the needle to be pushed into his arms, and psychologically he got what he (or at least his habit) wanted. Absolutely crushing!
Divinity III, regardless of some of the debated flaws, is really turning out to be a fantastic story! Happy to see Harada involved, loved the fact that Ninjak knew Bloodshot's weakness and used it against him. Glad to get the rest of the Red Brigade introduced to us (wondering if we will continue to get intro's in the rest of the 1-shots), seriously want to know the rest of the story!
Divinity III, great book. Loved Aric's story of being controlled, very close third

Really enjoyed:
1] Divinity III #2
2] Savage #3
3] Divinity IIII: Aric Son of the Revolution #1
4] Ninjak #23
Middling to weak:
5] Faith #7
6] Harbinger Renegade #3
Poor:
7] A+A #11
8] Bloodshot USA #4
9] Gen Zero #6
Sorry I'm being a little blunt & harsh on this months books... I'm not feeling up for my usual one-sentence comments this time.

Are you able to tweak the poll? Unless I've lost my marbles (and that's entirely possible), Faith was #8 & A+A was #12 this month...Keith wrote:Last month, Divinity III #1 beat Savage #2 by 1 vote to win December.

Those 2 books came out today, in February. A+A #11 and Faith #7 are correct.grendeljd wrote:Are you able to tweak the poll? D'oh!! You're right! I got mixed up because I read advance copies on Friday & did the VCR podcast recording on Sunday... Feels like they came out last week for me. You'd think I would have clued in when I just posted links to the new episode an hour ago...jeremycoe wrote:Those 2 books came out today, in February. Savage is a gorgeous book, but too quick a read, so I threw some love to Ninjak.

What about Aric Son of the Revolution? It's #1 but not "IIII".

5/5 - Divinity III & Savage
4/5 - Harbinger Renegade, Ninjak
3/4 - the rest. Aric Son of the Revolution is underwhelming compared to the Bloodshot one-shot.
