The Valiant Masters HC's are a reprint of the original Valiant (V1) series and is usually the first 6 or so issues. The Deluxe HC's reprint the new Valiant series titles (VEI) and will usually collect the entire run.

Check out Instocktrades.com and click on Publishers and then select Valiant and you can see examples of each. Hope this helps! :thumb:

Valiant Masters collect the VH-1 series from the 1990s (Valiant's first incarnation), e.g.

Valiant Masters: XO Manowar: Into the Fire collects XO Manowar #0-6 from 1992-93

--

Deluxe Editions collect the current series since 2012 (Valiant's third incarnation), e.g.

XO Manowar Deluxe Edition 1 collects XO Manowar #0-14 from 2012-13

mbk28 beat me by a few seconds.

Yes, the Valiant Masters basically collect the first arcs only.

In addition to the Valiant Masters you can also find the following two Classic Omnibus'es:

Archer & Armstrong: The Complete Classic Omnibus
... collecting the entire series plus extras as published from 1992-1994.

XO Manowar Classic Omnibus
... collecting #0-30 plus extras from 1992-1994.

There was also a Quantum and Woody (original series) omnibus, but it appears to be out of print now -- or at the very least it's only available for a very high price on Amazon.

Also worth noting that some of the Valiant Masters seem to be getting scare -- Ninjak is no longer available from Amazon except through resellers. Speaking of these classic editions -- it'd be great if they'd release some more of these.

Oddly enough, I saw a copy of this on the shelf at my LCS just this afternoon.

I think many of these books are still in the wild, they are just hidden little gems. Probably semi friendly shops out there that purchased them, but really don't have a lot of support in their neck of the woods. I'm in West Virginia this week, with a few book shops and comic book stores around, gonna take this list and see what I can find

Is there any reason the relevant Legends of the Geomancer issue/s were not included in the Book of Death Deluxe Edition?

Valiant was adamant that those books would never be reprinted. They were special incentives releases. And they didn't want to minimize the special nature of those books.

Why were they considered to have more of a special nature than the other titles/ releases?

Because, as a publisher, they made a decision to release them that way. it's not that they are more special per se, it's that they were released in a special fashion.

btw, to get back to the topic on hand, i just sold today 3 OOP vei hardcovers to a member on this site, for less than he would have gotten on ebay, amazon, etc. I keep hinting that i have all the books in stock, but so few take me up on them.

Well, Valiant likes to do that kind of incentives stuff. The ratios for Legends of the Geomancer weren't even so bad - 1:25 for the first issue and 1:10 for the other three.

It's a great and brutal story about the very first Geomancer (no further spoilers unless you ask for it)... thus it is the very opposite to the end of the Valiant Universe as shown in the main Book of Death mini-series and one-shots.

Out of that one finally, sold a ton of them in the last few weeks. Almost out of Bloodshot v.1 and the run up on Rai vol. 1 is going insane (I guess I HAVE hinted enough). Most other HCs still in stock. BTW, Shadowman vol. 1 is out of print now too, heard it here first :)

Is there a way to see how many were printed of each?

I know this has been touched on in other threads, but to re-ask (if anyone has any info):

Will these be re-printed? Or, once the existing stock (from various sources) is gone -- then prospective readers are just out of luck? And, any notion as to the original print run numbers on any of these hardcovers (the deluxe editions, the omnibuses, and the Masters editions)?

In no way speaking for VEI but amount it takes to break even on reprinting them is IMPOSSIBLE to justify. By now, 95% of the people have bought them, so printing another 500-1,000 copies (not a real amount, just saying) is not going to help the publisher or the distributor who has to stock it, unless there is turnover. I predict they can sell another 50-100 not more.

The Valiant-exclusive French publisher Bliss Comics is already offering a few omnibuses, for instance:
http://www.bliss-comics.com/work/archer ... integrale/

It's about time to get these in English, too!

I can see what you're saying about the prospective future customers perhaps being a small group, but I wonder -- how do other publishers manage to keep some of their collections in print. A couple of examples that come to mind would be the Tekno Comix collections from Super Genius; something like Identity Crisis from DC (that seems like it may have been reprinted since first being introduced as a collected edition); or many of the older Batman collections that stay in print (perhaps a bad example given the exposure level of that character?).

The Tekno example above is released in both paperback and hardcover, which also prompts the question -- are the economics different for TPBs versus hardcovers? I just ask since VEI seems to have reprinted paperback volumes when they've sold out (like XO Volume 1).

Your insight as a retailer are appreciated on this thread!

Perhaps another way around this issue is to introduce omnibus editions for the VEI material (such as the one linked above)? That allows new readers to perhaps be introduced to the material while also giving a new collectible that may be of interest to current customers. Continuing with the classic omnibus editions would be another great way to get the VH1 (and even VH2) stuff back in print -- and may be far more attractive than the Masters series (which I'm assuming are defunct since further editions haven't been released).

Is there just one Shadowman Deluxe Edition? or has a 2nd one been announced? I'd like to catch up on everything I've missed over the past few years I've been off the board as far as Shadowman goes.

Deluxe HC and then TPB 3 & 4 and END TIME ? Can someone correct me if I'm wrong? Is that all the issues collected?

Thanks!
