One very interesting question (from an old thread of yours)...

Has VEI reached out to him (Jim) for any follow up work, one offs, Harbinger 1/2, specialty projects?

This should naturally lead to the XO art, but maybe there is more we don't know???

Maybe 8/15 or 8/22... I'll give as much notice as I can so we're all on board.

I do it from 8:30 PM EST until 10.

Jim told me this past weekend he was in Florida and in the booth next to him was George Perez and between the two of them, it was practically a mad dash for autos from the fans. He said he signed "about 3,000 autographs" then I told him about "The Yogi Berra Syndrome" when you live to 90 and have signed over a million autos... that after you die, since there are so many of them, it remains an easily filled item for the cheap.

Jim will never reach that status unless I get him to sign 500 per week from now until his death. Reminds me of Joe DiMaggio and he would now ever sign a baseball bat. Those he signed 50 per year and they went into a vault to be sold after his death. When I met Joe, he was getting $175 per auto and the line was out the door. But no bats and no pics of Marilyn.

Mickey Mantle also ran into this problem... he signed over a million autos so today you can get a real one for what- $40???

Enough rambling.

Will miss the live event, but am really looking forward to reading this thread tomorrow. This is our chance to hear from the founder of the visions that still live on today. Plus that Jim is a great guy :)

Welcome to this forum, Jim. I hope we have a lot of fun, but we always have a lot of fun together.

I don't expect many people asking for your auto as everyone is/has recieve(d) your laborious bookmark signing results.

It is an honor to welcome you to this, one of the last and strongest bases of VALIANT fans.

Here you are venerated.

You're doing fine. I schedule 8:30 PM EST for the sake of the west coast... apart from that, I have heard there's many people who want this chance and here it is!

Hi Jim, very awesome of you to make time to chat with us here!

I am still a fan of the Marvel New Universe line to this day, your Starbrand run is among my favourites from that line. I was wondering if you took some inspiration from that conceptual template and applied it to the creation of the Valiant Universe?

Do you think it's fair to say that the Valiant line ended up being a very successful version of that "world outside your window" idea that you were attempting to do with the New Universe books?
I like to draw stuff... http://grendeljd.deviantart.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My wife likes to draw stuff too, and she is better than me! [I'm very proud of her]... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sara-Dec ... ref=stream" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You have some mighty fine hands to do a Rai commission for Greg! I hope Paul Creddick never retires! It was also your hand that drew the cover to XO #1.

Can you comment on your relationship with Bob Layton because apparently, it's impossible to get him to give you the time of the day!

Thanks. Looks like someone asked whether VEI wants me to write something. Few people know, but I worked for VEI, on staff for seven months. 2009? I think. It was not pleasant. I quit. Mike Richardson hired me to write the Gold Key characters. VEI sued me for violating my contract. I did not have a contract. I was never offered one. But it cost me a great deal of money to fight the suit, which they eventually dropped. They also stiffed me on my accrued vacation pay. I don't think it's likely that I will ever work for them again, not that they're interested.

Do you think that, in 2016, there's more signed or unsigned covers of Rai #0?

Thanks for the kind words about my drawing. I only drew things because we couldn't get a real artist, or there was no money. With a good inker some of it looked okay, I guess. I haven't tried for years. The hands won't cooperate.
