CHALLENGE TO ALL MEMBERS - CAN YOU HELP OUT VEI NOW?

Post by brucehartshorn »

The biggest selling TPBs over at Amazon all have 300+ reviews. This is HUGE. Given the membership that we have, coupled with the true activist spirit that resonates throughout, I want to challenge everyone from Valiantfans.com to go to Amazon.com and review both X O Manowar #1 TPB, AND Bloodshot #1 TPB to place these books in this elite status :o :headbang: :banana: :banana:

As of this writing, XO sits at 88 reviews to date and Bloodshot sits at 68 reviews to date. It wouldn't take much to launch these two TPBs into superstar status over at Amazon which will do a couple of things to help out VEI. First, they should sell more TPBs because of the higher visibility of that many reviews. Second, when they achieve that status, it should get people to try these books first, lead them into trying subsequent volumes, and ultimately growing the Valiant readership :thumb:

There are no prizes for this effort. It is SOLELY a matter of us showing our appreciation to VEI for all the goodness they give us each month. I told Dinesh we were throwing this challenge out there to help them, confident that we here can make this happen for them.

Will YOU accept the challenge with a :takeit: ? My bet is a resounding YES! :clap:

Then, as long as you're at Amazon, how about adding a 3rd challenge TPB and review the newly released DIVINITY TPB? :high-five: This would REALLY get the buzz going in the comics community about VEI and their first totally original character.

You don't need to own the TPB to review it nor do you need to purchase it from Amazon. As long as you've read the books in the TPB, you can do a review of it so it's pretty easy.

I will keep us all updated on the progress toward the goal of 300 reviews for each of these books so PLEASE let's do what we can to help out VEI :thumb: I KNOW they will genuinely appreciate this concentrated effort from all of us!

I would also like to nominate the first volume of Ivar too.

So far, there's been only two reviews on Amazon's site for it (as far as I can tell, neither of which are from members here though both reviewers gave it 5 stars), 1 review on Amazon Canada and none on Amazon UK.

C'mon fellas, everyone here seems to love this title so let's spread the love! :clap:

Already posted my Ivar review on all three sites. :thumb:

Any and ALL Amazon TPB reviews are helpful and appreciated so please go ahead and review Ivar and any others.

I just want to focus primarily on XO #1 and Bloodshot #1 first and foremost because they are the first core characters of VEI and everything grows from there. Plus, they were the volumes Dinesh thought would be best for this 300 review goal which would be most most help to VEI.

Very thankful for the quick responses from the group to this request :clap: I have to think that when people realize this is important to Dinesh and company, they'll be only to happy to not only do those reviews themselves, but to encourage other members they personally know on the board to participate also. :thumb:

Great Idea and if you do review Divinity than please send a link of that review to VEIGoldprogram on twitter with hashtag #Divinityreviewed for a chance at Valiant GOLD

Here is our first update. We have a ways to go.......

XO Manowar #1 TPB now is at 90 Amazon Reviews

Bloodshot #1 TPB now is at 70 Amazon Reviews

Divinity #1 TPB now is at 28 Amazon Reviews

Given the number of members we have here, it doesn't seem like it would be hard to get 300 reviews for these books and REALLY give a boost to VEI.

Please mention it to other members here who you personally know and urge them to help us get there. Thanks so much :thumb:

I would like to game the system a little and offer a few prizes to incentivize more reviews:

This contest is open to anyone who posts (or has posted) a review on Amazon for either XO Manowar, Bloodshot or Divinity #1 TPB. To enter, simply post your review on Amazon and send me a PM letting me know that you did. Your name will then be put in a hat and three (3) lucky winners will be chosen with one grand prize winner selected at random from those three.

This is being done on the honor system, so no obligation to provide proof of the review. The contest will be open until August 15th and prizes will be shipped as soon as possible thereafter.

Prizes:
Each winner will receive a VEI Volume 1 TPB (basically, the $10 and under) of their choosing which will be shipped directly from Amazon (if located in US) to the winner.

The grand prize winner will also receive a Gold Quantum & Woody #1 sent from me by separate package.

I hope to see at least 300 entries!

I recently started a re-read of all Valiant titles. Will eventually get around to doing reviews for all of the volumes that I haven't already done.

Does VEI care more about the volume of the reviews or the quality of the reviews?

As a consumer on Amazon, I like to see that a product has 100+ reviews, but I don't read all the reviews. I typically only look at the latest ones and the recommended reviews.

I raise this question because maybe all VEI needs are multiple one or two sentence reviews which should make it very easy for people to go post a review.

Thoughts?

When we were doing promos for TPB reviews, we asked that they be 100 words or more, just so there was some substance to them. That said, the number of reviews for a TPB is the most important thing :D

Volume shows the how popular an item is. At the end of the day, its all about SALES. Shoppers will look for what is popular and what has the best / highest reviews.

My argument has always been if X-O Manowar Vol #1, Harbinger Vol #1 and Rai Vol #1 are such great books. The general mass will not find it if there are 0 reviews.

Rai Vol #1 has 21 reviews to date.
http://www.amazon.com/Rai-1-Welcome-New ... =rai+vol+1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

==========================
As of the present.

Lets look at Divinity #1 which has 28 reviews.
Rank 13,829 in Books on Amazon.com
#43 in Books > Comics & Graphic Novels > Graphic Novels > Science Fiction
#177 in Books > Comics & Graphic Novels > Graphic Novels > Superheroes

Will 100+ reviews increase the rank of this book. Absolutely. Reviews leads to sales.

==========================

Amazon best sellers.

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Book ... v_b_2_4366" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

#1 Batman: The Killing Joke, Deluxe Edition
4.6 out of 5 stars (968 Reviews)
#2 Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
4.5 out of 5 stars (915 Reviews)

If any VEI book can show 300+ Reviews. That will attract new readers to check out the book.. vs a book with only 20-30 reviews.

Sunday seems like a great time to head over to Amazon.com and do the reviews for XO #1 TPB, Bloodshot #1 TPB, and Divinity TPB :D

It's all to help raise awareness among the comic/TPB buying public about these great properties. Can YOU help out? It's fast and easy and REALLY makes a difference.

Thanks for considering helping out and please contact a couple of members you personally know and urge them to help as well :high-five:

I'd review them again if I could. The Shadowman and Bloodshot vol. 1 TPBs are what got me back into Valiant and comics in general.
