Does that possibly mark a parallel between the VH1 "Unity" series and VEI "The Valiant" series in which sales saw big increases after their publications?

I thought it would be higher than Ninjak but not by very much. This is great news.

Right --- I was sure it would be near the Ninjak #1 number (27,000) --- possibly even under because of Ninjak not having his own series before.

Wow!

Could be a Top 30 book, if the other companies stay close to their March sales figures. We shall see! But hellagreat!

If there is a major shift from this point moving forward to a sustained increase in sales - I think DMG announcement is where that shift happens

Pre-DMG might be the new Pre-Unity

45k is definitely over my expectations, I along with the various Valiant podcasts guessed between 25k-35k. Fantastic news!!

Any estimates on where Bloodshot Reborn sales will be at issue #10? VEI's biggest seller still?

With Ninjak and Bloodshot I think we are seeing the start of the next phase. It certainly appears that awareness of this company and their stellar characters is reaching a much wider audience, which is what VEI needs to do in order to maintain their continued growth.

WE all knew how good VEI was. Now the WORLD is beginning to know it as well which is nothing short of fantastic :high-five:

BR 1 had a lot of variants. I hope once the dust settles on this issue that we see solid numbers every month.

There is a big thread over on the Collector's Society boards about Bloodshot Reborn. Lots of new readers and many older ones very surprised.

I haven't read Bloodshot Reborn yet, but I'm looking forward to getting my next subscription shipment from Ed.

Awesome news! I got my copy and my LCS that normally only gets 2 or 3 of each issue looked like it had 10 or so to spare.

Same here. That was Ninjak's debut, this is Bloodshot's re-imagining. But wow, big number!

I suspect, to some's dismay, the very positive sales numbers may prompt VEI to relaunch more titles like XO as a rebranded #1. It makes sense if this many new readers have been drawn in by the big names and DMG announcement to capitalize on that.

I hope not. I hope they factor in to that possible equation that there are several other factors besides it just being a #1 issue which are contributing to this. 1) Their big announcement about funding from DMG for comics and movies, etc bringing more general interest and new readers to Valiant. 2) Jeff Lemire writing this Bloodshot Reborn at a time when he's very hot for the likes of Descender.

Big sales for a new #1 only last for 1 or 2 issues, then they're back to the numbers they were at before or lower, and the audience gets further and further jaded as time goes on and it's done more often. If they were hurting for cash, maybe I could see them doing it for an infusion of funds, but they've got money to burn right now, so I trust VEI not to reboot a title unless it makes SOME sense from a 'story ending/new phase of story beginning' standpoint like with Harbinger/Imperium.

The real test will be the second issue sales figures....It likely drop below 30k

I posted this news about BS:R selling 45k over on reddit, and I wanted to share a few of the comments from people on there in relation to this:
Valiant are the company most consistently delivering quality superhero comics right now, on a 'per book' basis. They've earned the hype.
Great to hear!! I'm basically blind buying valiant at the moment...they've earned my trust with really terrific publishing lately.
Same! It doesn't matter what they put out its all excellent.

Of course it will drop. Nobody expects it to stay selling at this level on a regular basis. The real test will be where it averages for sales on issues 3-12 a year from now to really see how it's doing.
