Re: Sales of all Valiant titles so far
I messed up my math.. It looked like it was around a little over or near 3 million total issues printed. Does anyone know the actual number?

Re: Sales of all Valiant titles so far
With these provided numbers, the total comes out to 2,437,438. However, this doesn't include additional printings and other books printed but not distributed by Diamond (as well as the 3 books without sales figures). My guess is that about 3 million is pretty close.Aram wrote:I messed up my math.. It looked like it was around a little over or near 3 million total issues printed. Whatever this means. And I don't mean Doom!, I was just curious. I may do some others, but it's harder with other books since they are breaking up into minis (like Harby) and I'm not sure I have the patience to rearrange all that data by release date.
Was steady until 10 and then a dropoff.

Yeah, I was going to try to do some charts, but it's hard to organize everything with all the minis and starts of new titles which continue previous titles (like Harbinger/AH: Harbinger/Omegas/Imperium).jmatt wrote:Whatever this means. I suppose one could do one for each of the books that went to issue 25 (with the zero issues thrown in I publishing order).

Looking at the numbers, I'm surprised at how soft the figures are for Q2. I'm not a huge QW fan, but I figured VEI was counting on pent up demand for new Priest / Bright QW material.
Started at 8200, quickly dropped to 5800 and ended at 4400. I'm thinking the super confusing first issue didn't help.

If I had to guess, I'd say Q2 will do well in TPB sales.jmatt wrote:Looking at the numbers, I'm surprised at how soft the figures are for Q2. I'm not a huge QW fan, but I figured VEI was counting on pent up demand for new Priest / Bright QW material.

I agree. There's probably a lot of original fans just trade waiting. Is it out yet? They don't usually wait long for the arc to end.BugsySig wrote:If I had to guess, I'd say Q2 will do well in TPB sales.jmatt wrote:Looking at the numbers, I'm surprised at how soft the figures are for Q2. I think Valiant just overestimated the amount of people nostalgic for more Priest & Bright Q&W. Either that or they just threw Doc and Priest a bone out of respect.

I was at Ed's shop today and I think he has about 1/2 the run of Q2 #5. Seriously. That's a lot of books.

i think they basically don't care if a q&w mini is in continuity one or two, because q&w are more or less a world of their own anyway.Tim wrote:I think Valiant just overestimated the amount of people nostalgic for more Priest & Bright Q&W. vei will order as many mini-series as needed to finally nail the quintessential q&w story.

Diamond discounts numbers by something like 10% if a book is returnabledrmirage wrote:Great info!

Or are these actual sales #'s including returnability on Unity #1?
Do you have the data with the least sold copies?

So the number of TPB and HC's are always potentially increasing? Second, third, etc print runs of them aren't denoted differently somehow?
BugsySig wrote:One could comb through the diamond/Comichron sales charts for collections and trades. Of course, more of these are potentially printed every month and would need to be totaled.Joshua wrote:Is there anything like this pertaining to TPB and HC sales?

Re: Sales of all Valiant titles so far
The number of the printing is not referenced by Diamond. Regardless of printing, they only show up on the Diamond sales chart if they sell enough to make the list. But trades are usually reprinted regularly. Plus they can be sold directly to Amazon and book stores, as well I believe.jasont215 wrote:So the number of TPB and HC's are always potentially increasing? Re: Sales of all Valiant titles so far
I wonder how the VEI back issue market is going to look in a few years. If the movies bring in more readers, which it may or may not do, there is so much material with a low print run...or Valiant just stays a small publisher.
This does remind me that I still don't own Omegas or all of Delinquents.

Nice to see a books numbers climbing, with Divinity 3 selling better than Divinity 2.

I think it's genuine reader interest, it's a hot book, with a low print run, no movie was announced, based off this mini. The first issue is now going into it's 5th printing, the second print might of been ready to go from jump, but prints 3,4 & 5, shows interest on the retail level, for sure.kjjohanson wrote:Hopefully it's reader interest and not just speculation interest.agent_graves wrote:241 VAL Divinity (2015) 3 9,582 +198 from issue #2 +2.11% (The Interest Is Real!!)

If Valiant had 1/10th of the speculation interest of Marvel, they'd be 3% of the market. Re: Sales of all Valiant titles so far
Are you even reading the same forums as me? There's barely a thread on this forum about the content of the books themselves. Instead it's there's a lot of threads about low print runs, variant covers, and graded books. This forum is disturbingly collectivistic and nobody seems to be bothered by it. Valiant wouldn't even have the sales numbers without these gross variants. I guess I should be thanking this board but lately I'm not feeling the direction of where Valiant marketing is heading.jmatt wrote:If Valiant had 1/10th of the speculation interest of Marvel, they'd be 3% of the market. Sadly I think I'm on the verge of quitting Valiant books just as quickly as I began only a few months ago. I'm going see how this summer event plays out, after that I'll make my decision. I hope the actual stories can hold my interest. I might just drastically cut back on their offerings.
