Yep. Dysart's a beast. Hard to touch. Kinda not surprising here. Imperium is fan-friggin-tastic! And I thought Omegas was outstanding as well.

hawkeyeps wrote:Just for fun I did a tally and assigned 2 points for a win and 1 for runner up-

Harbinger (includes BM)- 25
Unity- 11
XO Manowar- 5
Rai- 5
Bloodshot (and Hard Corps)- 5
Archer & Armstrong- 5
Harbinger Wars- 4
The Valiant- 4
Shadowman- 3
Dr.Mirage- 3
Quantum and Woody- 3
Armor Hunters- 2
Eternal Warrior- 1
Ivar, Timewalker- 1

I would say it's pretty clear that Dysart delivers the goods with Harbinger as the most consistently excellent book
If you add Kindt's books together he has 16 (Unity + Rai) and 20 if you give him credit for The Valiant.

+1!

I'm assuming you tacked the points onto Harbinger in your top post, hawkguy?

March: Harbinger #10, runner up: Shadowman #5
Shadowman #5 came 2nd!!? :? Anyone remember what was special about that issue?? Do we need a re-count!
shadow man started out strong
I could certainly get on board with Shadowman #0 and 10 on bring in the top 2 but not any of the other issues.

Looks like The Valiant is the first miniseries that placed as BoM or runner up for all it's issues.

Ivar #5 was excellent and I hope it gets at least runner up but I did not think a lot of the first arc of Ivar was very enjoyable, especially Ivar #1 where three quarters of the issue were just Ivar and Neela running through various timearcs.

If you read the first arc of A&A the difference is astounding, Archer and Armstrong are such strong characters and while it was IMO one of the weakest A&A arcs, the first arc still told a compelling story and built up a large interesting supporting cast.

In comparison Ivar's character is hard to describe beyond 'mysterious', in the first arc he is incredibly bland with none of the flair that made Armstrong so great and Neela also has little character aside from the fact that she talks like an annoying 90s cartoon character. Obviously Neela becomes a lot more fleshed out and interesting with Ivar #4, but in the first 3 issues she is a very generic and bland character, a far cry from Archer who is interesting from the outset.

Overall if someone wanted to get into Valiant I would recommend them A&A but definitely not Ivar based on the current issues, I hope the second arc will change that though.

Different strokes...
I almost dropped Archer and Armstrong after the first arc. (Glad I didn't!) I loved the first arc of Ivar.
