Re: I think I have a Bloodshot #0 Platinum variant.....
Listen to what people here are telling you, not your local comic store guys. The folks here are Valiant fanatics and know what they are talking about. The local comic shop guys most likely aren't Valiant fanatics and don't really know much about this particular obscure error book from a period in time when Valiant was churning out flashy books that are no longer valuable (remember the price you originally paid for it). They're generalists. The folks here are specialists.HopefullyBloodshot wrote:So i took it to two different local comic book stores and got a very different answer. The first one i went to i had the owner tell me it was a regular chromium version and was worth about $2. I asked about the price not being in the corner and he said that was normal for the regular version and it wasnt a platinum. I was like OK. Then he said, even if it was a platinum, they are only going for about $15 on ebay. Since this seemed so 180 from what i've read on here, i went to another store and they couldnt tell me anything about it. He basically said send it to CGC and they would authenticate and grade it so i could figure out what to do with it. However if it wasnt the real deal i'd be wasting $40 on a $2 comic.
Is there anything else i can look at this to validate its worth investing into?
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

You will be getting alot of pm's to purchase it outright NOW.
Just by talking to this board.
If you haven't ~ I am surprised ~ but if you are getting offers here ~ you have something in your possession worth money.

I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

Considering that almost every member of this board would trade you their first born for a BS platinum, it's worth it to CGC the book.HopefullyBloodshot wrote:

But given all the whining and crying this morning, I'd trade mine for a Turok #1. Any takers?

I had considered an offer like I'll put up the CGC fees if you agree to sell it for xxx dollars. But it seemed too slimy to propose.Phantom wrote:You will be getting alot of pm's to purchase it outright NOW.

I'm gonna turn it into CGC for their cheapest rate and see what they say about it. maybe it wont be graded high enough to even bother, who knows. I think its in good shape, but maybe the experts say it wont be. I'll go from there. I'll keep you guys updated on what i find out!
Btw, i havent gotten any offers, but thats ok. It's cool just to know i have something rare at this point.

In this particular case, sending it to CGC is less for the final grade and more for the verification that it wasn't tampered with or altered in some way to appear to be the error version when it's not.HopefullyBloodshot wrote:I'm gonna turn it into CGC for their cheapest rate and see what they say about it. maybe it wont be graded high enough to even bother, who knows. That's just because we're a decent bunch of people. I lot of us would really like a copy, but not at the expense of screwing someone over. When you're ready to sell come on back. Good luck.HopefullyBloodshot wrote:

Even if it grades relatively low it still has value. The last one sold was by a long time member Bloodshot. His CGC 9.6 copy sold for something like $1725. That truly is an awesome find!HopefullyBloodshot wrote:I'm gonna turn it into CGC for their cheapest rate and see what they say about it. maybe it wont be graded high enough to even bother, who knows. Nah, it was "only" a 9.6, totally not worthy of being part of his collection . . .drmirage wrote:I thought Bloodshot was a 9.8.

Yeah, you need to send it to cgc right away, with a note stating you believe it to be a platinum error.
If it comes back a blue label, you are looking at a few hundred to over a thousand.
Even on the low chance if it comes back purple for restored or rejected as a fake, I'm sure you could get around $100 for it just for the novelty. But if your story is true there should be no chance of it beinf a fake and the value would just be by whatever cgc puts on the label.

Wouldn't an error of this sort get a green (Qualified) label?Aram wrote:Yeah, you need to send it to cgc right away, with a note stating you believe it to be a platinum error.

The chances are pretty good this will come back with a high grade, 9.6 or 9.8. Those chromium books took a lot more abuse without showing it than regular covers.
To HopefullyBloodshot - do you mind saying in what city or state you purchased this comic? There has been some interest in the past as to finding some geographic area where these were concentrated.

So hopefully nobody goes digging into me, but it was in effingham, il at village square mall roughly around 1998. I know I read a couple were found in this area of the country with others being found in Terre haute Indiana and other places in Indiana.

Re: I think I have a Bloodshot #0 Platinum variant.....
To be fair errors are usually mostly a novelty item, maybe worth a few bucks more because some people like them. It just turns out in this case that there are enough Valiant collectors that want this error and a very limited supply, so the price shoots up.MoonChild wrote:Once u verify and sell for big loot go back to the store that told u its not even worth much if its real and go and rub it in his face for me would ya?! I dont blame the guy, he probably didnt know. The only thing that bothered me about it was how confident he was about how worthless it was. He could have been like the other guy and said, yeah it might be i'm not totally sure.
