I really want to get a few sketches by Crain....how are you guys doing it? So far none of the creators I've contacted via any social media have gotten back to me with the exception of Cary Nord.

Re: Sketch cover gallery
In my experience the creators are too busy or don't really read the Internet because it is such a time drain. The ones I have spoken with tend to go online when things are slower otherwise they lose track of time and that leads to other issues..lol. The best way I have found is to meet them in person and start a dialog. It is better because they can tell you a better time or contact person to find out what works best. Rarely due "cold calls" work, but that's just my experience so others may be different.Intrepidxc wrote:I really want to get a few sketches by Crain....how are you guys doing it? Re: Sketch cover gallery
Jkingman was the point man for my Crain covers, it was Rose City Comic Con in Portland (I think that's right) and Jkingman was going and I'm sure he contacted Clayton in advance of the con.Intrepidxc wrote:I really want to get a few sketches by Crain....how are you guys doing it? Jkingman commissioned a Faith cover and was kind enough to get Clayton to do commissions for Nonplayer and I as well, I requested Reebo on a AH blank and Nonplayer had very specific instructions for a sideways Rai cover.
NP had very specific ideas to display the cover sideways with the logo on top, unfortunately Clayton painted the image upside down to the logo when viewed sideways.
We were all ecstatic about our covers but NP was a little upset. Fortunately NP also loved GrendelJD's Unity Livewire cover (one of my most prized) so he proposed a trade. I thought the Rai cover was stunning so I had to accept, I told GrendelJD and he was flattered as I knew he would be. That Livewire cover does kick *SQUEE* though and I had also recently sent NP a really nice Lilt AH cover by Rossmo.
That is the story of my Crain covers, every one of these comics on my wall has a story and I have more to put up yet

Those sketches are awesome. I want to get a sketch on all my blank covers. So far all I have is a Lupacchino Bloodshot sketch and a Nord Unity sketch.

I got one from Crain in person at the Nashville Comic Expo. I was there when doors opened (actually quite a bit before) and bee-lined to his booth.Intrepidxc wrote:I really want to get a few sketches by Crain....how are you guys doing it? I didn't contact Clayton, just went early and like Dunlow, straight to his booth. Seems like a lot of artists take commissions at shows, some on the spot, some make a list. Clayton did mine during the show, but had to mail me the other two books.

I just don't get to enough cons it appears. I got my Lupacchino at a con and my Nord sketch via social media. I'll have to plan more con trips....

Very nice cover. Though I still say that Rai by Crain is the best you have. Though I may be a little prejudice. Lol
