Solar 7
What's up with Solar #7? It's been one of the top selling Valiant issues on eBay, escpecially in CGC 9.8 grade. I have to admit that the cover is one of the coolest that Valiant put out (BWS art), but is there something special about the story? Check out eBay, there is a Solar #7 CGC 9.8 on eBay right now.

This white cover was easy to get the "dirty" rubbing damage - the back cover is solidly colored. I would think a 9.8 is truly a rare thing.
Couple that with a picture of the most powerful being in the universe bound, and BWS pencils, important spider-aliens storyline - a semi-key in the Valiant universe to be sure.
$100 for this book in 9.8 is a steal. My sell price would be near triple that.

What the heck was that all about?!
This auction is ridiculous! Unless a 9.8 Solar 7 completes the stargate or is the last piece to finding the holy grail, I think its crazy.
Aug2002 whatever your deal is, more power to you. This acution left me in the dust several hundred dollars ago.

Am I weird for thinking $305 for a 9.8 Solar #7 isn't a crazy price?
Don't worry, it will all work itself out. After all, before graded coins, the most expensive 1884S $1 was only about $3-$4K...AFTER slabbing, the best one's worth $200-$300K...and the commons (say, 1884P) are worth a couple hundred...
Common books in very uncommon grades are the wave of the future.

Don't forget the OTHER $300 for Solar #11 in CGC 9.8!
Isn't this a flip book, too. WTF?fryabusa wrote:I'm feeling kinda good now. I beat out Aug002 for a 9.8 Magnus #5 for $150. Kind of expensive but I got tax money to burn. Aug just won a Magnus #7 at 9.8 for another $200. Can you believe that, $500 for 2 Valiant books!

Other than $202.50?? WTF??
Oh well time to start submitting some many minty pre-unitys for grading.
I may be wrong, but I thought the flip books were not considered true issues of Magnus. (Exp. Magnus #5 & then you have Magnus #5 flip book.) The same goes for Rai.lobo wrote:BodaZoffa wrote:Isn't this a flip book, too. WTF?fryabusa wrote:I'm feeling kinda good now. I beat out Aug002 for a 9.8 Magnus #5 for $150. Had it backwards.... thanks.greg wrote:Magnus #5 through #8 are the only versions possible.
They are "full issues" of Magnus... with Rai "mini-series" books on the flipside.
Rai "mini-series" #1 through #4 are not full "Rai books",
because they are first and foremost Magnus books.
Still, $202.50 for Magnus #7 is very, very odd.

The rational for a $305 Solar #11 is mind boggling as well. The seller must be giggling right now.greg wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 2230028193fryabusa wrote:I'm feeling kinda good now. I beat out Aug002 for a 9.8 Magnus #5 for $150. Keeping my fingers crossed
I just mailed in 19 Pre Unity Valiants to CGC. I just hope Aug002 in still around when they come back.
They are going to be duplicates to help finance my quest to create an all cgc 9.4+ pre unity set.
And I half feel like just picking one of these crazy auctions at random and forcing that jerk sky high. I want someone to really see what his limits are.

Re: Keeping my fingers crossed
This may have already been asked but what all is incorporated into your pre-unity set? Unity 0,1? Magnus 0 w/card and one without? Obviously both a blue and pink harbinger 0, right? It's an interesting quest and I hope you get it I'm still working on pre-unity, golds and specials for some odd reason. But getting close!red_rum wrote:I just mailed in 19 Pre Unity Valiants to CGC. Harbinger 0 Blue is a reprint from 1993... regardless of what it says on the cover.whetteon wrote:This may have already been asked but what all is incorporated into your pre-unity set? Unity 0,1? While I don't think you necessarily need BOTH Magnus #0s any
more than you need Magnus #1 with and without coupon...
they were originally two different pre-Unity books.
Here's my pre-Unity gallery for quick reference:
