Is this it?

Are these going to be the only titles released this year? IMO I say yes for now - Maybe a new book in December/January. They have good titles to build a foundation upon and go from there. No need to flood out the product and murk things up. Build with what you have - draw in the readers and then start the second wave.

Only thing that does kinda URK me is the fact that in 4 months time we are looking at at least.

4 - 1:50 Variants (assuming the #1s will be the only talking variants)
10 - 1:20 Variants (possibly assuming that each monthly title will have 1)
10 - Pullbox Variants (pretty much a given this will be an every issue deal)

24 possible variant covers in 4 months - I don't want another Dynamite out there :!:

I hope the #1 issues are the only ones with variants.

May - 4 covers, 1 book
June - 5 covers, 2 books
July - 6 covers, 3 books
August - 7 covers, 4 books
That's 22 covers, 10 books (10 interiors).

...then I would hope it would be...
September - 4 covers, 4 books
October - 4 covers, 4 books
etc.

No more launches for a while.

Variants are unfortunately necessary, however, we are not going crazy with them. I'm working hard to find the right balance between using them to help and making sure you guys don't go broke and can get them all. I know many of you are like me and want to have everything. Each of the launches has 4 covers, after that we scale down. We are a storytelling universe, not a variant universe. I need your help bringing Valiant back and for the opening salvo variants are an important weapon for us.

Good to hear. As a returning comic reader/buyer, I don't think I can go from none to 10 books in 6 months. Nor would my wallet.

Always nice to hear that any publisher trying to find the right balance on variant covers, when so many go that bit too far, however you are of course right, they are a necessity in the current market place :)

I'd love to see some more innovative ideas for variants along with the new pull box variant you announced, charity variants that stores could have for that & only that purpose was something i felt could have plenty of scope? Maybe something to look at somewhere down the line :)

Yeah, I wonder that too... I'll assume that the Pullbox Variant is only for the first issue, because if it's true purpose in to get people to start a pull list then that will be accomplished by issue 2. I'm hoping 1 variant (honestly 0, but I guess that's not an option), but it won't surprise me if the 1:20 and 1:50 both stick around. If variants are an every issue thing, I won't be supporting them (the variants) after the initial #1s. I just can't afford to.

EDIT - fixed :thumb:

:? You couldn't support them just as much as you would have if there were no variants? That's what I plan to do. Two copies of #1 - pullbox variant and regular cover. Beyond that, one copy of each book. I don't really care about variants. They can offer as many variants as they want, but I'm still buying one copy.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Nonono... Sorry, I guess I typed that out wrong... I won't support the VARIANTS after the #1s. I plan on getting everything I can on the first issues, but then I'll just get the standard issue after that with no variants.

Understand. And understand. I don't always agree with variants, and will choose which to hunt down as I go. I know you have no intention of alienating the key fan base. Us. If you could do us a favor, and let us know when you'll have an intended variant, we would appreciate. To return the favor, we will let you know when we won't be pestering the shops to get the variants anymore.

As an oldster, I stopped buying them when completion was out of reach. Both number of titles and randomly returned premiums.

For now, I am on the bandwagon. And thanks.

Deal. We've got a couple of things in the works that may let us all have our cake and eat it too. Will give you all the heads up as soon as I figure out if the logistics are feasible. In the meantime, I can say that all 4 launch books will each have 4 covers AND that we will scale down from there (not maintain or ramp up the number of covers).

How about doing a Bloodshot Variant where retailers send in 50 Avengers vs X-Men 1 comics for a Bloodshot #1 AVX Variant.

JK

Never understood how that worked in Marvel's favor I mean the comics sent in are still comics sold by the competition. So ......please don't do it.

As someone that has both feet out the door with comics, even when variant were the rage it didn't effect my purchasing decisions (gods, the 90's are back with that junk!) and as much as I like the valiant characters, it's more cost effective IMO for me, if I found interest in the work, to wait for the TPB.

Single issues are just too expensive now (I hate the .99$ addition trend), and the stories/art aren't worth of $3.99 price tag. Heck, even on books with good art, $3.99 for the way modern comics are written, don't give justification for the purchase price.

But, this just me. :hm:

One of the things we've worked hard on is making sure our books are worth the cover price. We try to out content the market. On top of that X-O Manowar #1 is an oversized book. Will be announcing details on that soon.

That's sound cool.

I JUST want heroic tales, let me clarify, the heroe's journey is what I miss in comics, even if done in modern times, I don't want humans in costumes, I want them to be better than the average. That's what heroes were to me.
