Can someone tell me a good synopsis of Volume 2 and its connection to volume 1, if any?
Thanks

I can say it is not connected to Vol 1 in any way

I say we just forget vol 2 even existed, what an abortion. If I could send a T-800 back in time to 1996 to Terminate it, I would.

Re: X-O Manowar volume 2 Acclaim question
No connection to the original other than the name.
The X-O suit ends up in the hands of Americans after being taken from Germany in WWII. The suit is of unknown origin and bonds with the wearer in a way that eventually cause permanent harm. The book leaps to present day and a young scientist name Donovan Wylie ends up wearing the suit after a mishap. I won't spoil too much for you in case you want to give the series a read sometime.
Personally I didn't care for the premise or the characters, but the premise did spawn a cool villain character from WWII called the Teutonic Knight that mainly appears in Dr. Tomorrow. There is also a cool story in a one shot called Operation Stormbreaker.

The title also featured some nice artwork.
Sean Chen did the first arc with a noticeable increase in his skills (landed him a job with Marvel on Iron Man).
Scot Eaton, his art I also like, did most of the rest of the series. Bart Sears penciled issue #16 and featured
Quantum and Woody.

It wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't been called XO Manowar.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

It's good.
Very good take on xo manowar.
Completely different but plays well on the xo armour and it's first owner ( not aric).

The Teutonic Knight was seriously cool...but no love for Bravado??Daniel Jackson wrote:No connection to the original other than the name.

Re: X-O Manowar volume 2 Acclaim question
Only slight connection, or rather homage, to volume 1 is that the first known bearer was a Visigoth named Aric of Dacia.Daniel Jackson wrote:No connection to the original other than the name.

Re: X-O Manowar volume 2 Acclaim question
So vol.2 is about a military/Iron Man type, with passing references to Aric being the first Manowar.

Re: X-O Manowar volume 2 Acclaim question
As Magnus pointed out, Aric got the armor in 408 AD and was a fierce warrior until the armor resulted in his premature death. Dwayne McDuffie had planned to bring back Aric's consciousness but the title got cancelled before it could happen.
I liked the one-shot and the McDuffie issues were actually really good. And I am far from an X-O fan.

Re: X-O Manowar volume 2 Acclaim question
The VH2 X-O in my opinion was much more enjoyable than the Bart Sears fluorescent vomit stew from issues 44-63. Skip those issues and read the VH2 version instead. You can thank me later
