Another GREAT Wondercon After Dark episode :thumb: :thumb:

Couple of Takeaways

1) Another major movie announcement will be coming soon - that will be mind blowing.
2) The lack of Shadowman for awhile now ... is just the quiet before the storm (I expect this to be a major relaunch in 2016 - Shadowman Reborn? :hm: )
3) I hope Imperium's sales numbers stay strong ... because I really want to see Dysart's vision for the series realized.
4) FVL mapping out how Time travel works in the Valiant Universe - fills me with much joy and happiness.
5) David Baron seems like an awesome dude - Love his enthusiasm.

I am very much hoping for a "Shadowman Reborn" series. In fact I think I said those very two words last night when we recorded VCR.

Yes, David Baron is an awesome dude.

I have wanted to present this for a long time, and I am thrilled that we finally got one of the "founding fathers" of Valiant on the show.

Fred Van Lente joins us for a complete retrospective on his Archer & Armstrong run.

In Part 1, we talk about the first three arcs of Archer & Armstrong. Click the banner to go to the page:

Also, make sure to tune your computers to OTV next week for part 2, where we will finish discussing Archer & Armstrong, hear about the "lost arc" of the series, and hear about the origins of Timewalker.

About halfway in to the FVL episode and it's great so far! He sounds so clear too. Does it all depend on their Skype connection or something? Almost sounds like he's there in the room. Looking forward to the second half after lunch.

It depends a lot on their Skype connection.

Also, my mad editing skillz. I did a bit to this audio to bring out Fred's voice as much as possible.

I felt it was such a great moment, I bought it. Not religious in any way, but we really should appreciate the world around us and how good we have it. I give thanks for it every day.

That's awesome. And it's what I think is so great about this moment.

I am not a religious man either, but in this moment, I believed that Archer's beliefs were good for him, and good for the world, and I understood that faith does many, many good things for the world.

Went for a walk and did some OTV listening today

Not only is it good listening .. but it motivates me to take longer walks which helps me stay in reasonably decent shape

so you guys are like my personal trainers as well -- so thank you for that! :D :thumb:

I enjoyed the FVL interview - you did a great job of asking a lot of the questions that I had for the series.

I found a couple of things really really really interesting --

1) Many of us speculated during discussions of the books (ever since Armstrong slept with Mary-Maria) about them being Archer's parents -- And it SEEMED like that's exactly where FVL was trying to take it!! But it got nixed by the Editors! I think it would have been pretty cool -- But I could sort of understand why VEI wouldn't want to take it in that direction.

2) The whole Shadowman/Master Darque storyline sounded awesome! I'm soooo bummed that it never happened!! A Lovecraftian tribute with time travel with Archer facing off against Shadowman in 19th century new orleans ?? - how can that get the kibosh? I enjoyed the sect civil war and the especially the Pub Crawl through Time (or Time Crawl :D ) but that arc sounded fantastic!

Grand,

Dude...THANK YOU for the kind words and for your insights into our discussion with FVL. Agreed that his "lost" arc would have been an absolute joy to behold had it been released!

I've been meaning to say this for a little while.

A lot of Valiant podcasts have been popping up and although this is a sign that the Valiant word is spreading, all pale in comparison to the transcendent podcast known as Only The Valiant. The structure, the one sentence reviews, the creator roll call, the entertaimos, are all fundamental instances that in time eventually made up a consise facet for Valiant news, vast information, and in depth discussion that is simply unmatched. Listening to the library of old episodes reminded me of the rich past that Valiant had while the newer episodes showed me the ripe future that Valiant had which ultimately got me back into the universe just in time for VEI. A lot of that reason was due to Elveen.

Elveen's passion, humbleness and pure love for Valiant is contagious and not only is he the seminal Valiant fan, he is a vital asset to the company itself by just spreading the word and comunicating his affection about the books precisely and cohrently on the show floor and especially on the podcast. I mean, he got a character named after him. I miss his pressence and dynamic on the show. Come back sir.

That being said, I love VCR. Chris is amazing and I love the idea of getting a review every Wednesday. As far as the OTV presence, maybe full story arcs can be reviewed upon completion as the listeners can get the OTV crews overall thoughts of the particle series as VCR does the individual issues.

Just a few thoughts and ideas. Great work as always.

Yes! Can't wait to hear this. Sometimes (...often) I fall behind on reading the newest issues, so it's always great to get an episode where I feel I can listen in right away. Also, very curious to hear what you guys say about the incentive Geomancer series.
"What was appealing about the moment would be, in time, the cause of its end. It was the first time I experienced an identifiable algodonic state. That is, I became capable of observing beauty while experiencing sadness simultaneously." -- Joshua Dysart, Imperium #3

It should not be. I have avoided previews and do not remember anything being revealed in the discussion I did not already know from reading solicitations.
