This is one story arc that I haven't been able to sit through long enough to read the entire thing.Chiclo wrote:Point taken.Dr. Solar wrote:You don't have to read it to talk about it...Chiclo wrote:Please don't make me read Chaos Effect again.
I have read the four-issue section that focus on the X-O/Armorines/Harbinger battle with the Spider Aliens in space though, which was pretty cool.

Actually, there is only one story arc that I've had all the issues and started reading but could not finish. It was an Ultraverse story, Phoenix Resurrection, a crossover between the All New Exiles and the X-Men. It featured characters I know and like and it was still so bad that I just had to put it down and not finish it. UH2 got pretty brutal at some points.JonesyAZ wrote:This is one story arc that I haven't been able to sit through long enough to read the entire thing.Chiclo wrote:Point taken.Dr. Solar wrote:You don't have to read it to talk about it...Chiclo wrote:Please don't make me read Chaos Effect again.

Hey guys,
I just listened to #42. Thanks a million for the mention of of Surprising Comics and our issue. Number 1 of Surprising Theater took 4 months to produce: logistics, contracts, writing, art, lettering, editing, and production. Three months on our end and one month at the printer. We are dead on pace for issue two and that will take 3 months as well.
I hope this provides information for the VEI-5 year discussion.
Thanks,
John

I'd be all for a Chaos Effect discussion, or maybe an episode or series of episodes that discuss particular storylines or runs on books. I can't remember if there's been an episode focusing on Alpha & Omega yet, but maybe one that focuses on that and Solar's pre-Unity run. Steel Nation? #0 issues? Magnus's crossovers (vs. Predator, & Nexus)?
I've been listening to the OTV podcast for a little while now, catching up on all the old episodes and I find them to be very enjoyable and interesting to listen to!

That is what I have been saying.
I really like listening to the banter of the OTV crew. I would really like to have them all read a certain arc. Then break it down. I would love some of that.

The Rai #0 episode is still one of my favorites. It goes off track some, but they really pulled that comic apart and examined it in depth. Doing that for some other specific books/arcs would be great to hear.
Another idea I just had would be an episode focusing on Valiant's gimmicks. We all know that, according to the gospel of Fanboy, gimmicks are what led us away from the true light of comic books in the '90s. I'm looking over at my Image longbox now, and see Bloodstrike #1 with textured blood splattered over the cover art and an announcement over the Image logo that says RUB THE BLOOD!
Valiant weren't immune from the temptation of gimmicks, but they did have some interesting/innovative ones in addition to your run-of-the-mill stuff for the time. Coupons for special issues, free Unity and Chaos Effect issues, chromium covers, and Valiant Vision. I can't think of any other big gimmicks that they had, but it could be interesting/entertaining to hear a discussion of these things and maybe how they affected the stories/books they were associated with.

You know maybe you guys can do some good post unity reads.Dr. Solar wrote:These are good show ideas! Thanks for the input!
I also would be interested hearing how the OTV crew woudl re-launch Valiant right now. I think there would be some lively banter with that topic.
OTV as the editor in chief of VEI. I like it.

I heard a theory that there was one guy on the internet and Joey Q and Dan Didio were having a contest to see who could make him the maddest.Dr. Solar wrote:I imagine we would get fired pretty quickly.Elveen wrote:OTV as the editor in chief of VEI. I like it.
Especially since my first act would be to finally get the X-O Manowar vs. The Smurfs crossover made.
As EIC of Valiant, I would try to make MotA's head explode. So really, not all that different from what I did from time to time on this messageboard.

I was very surprised to find that the new episode of OTV is up and ready to listen to last night!
Very cool discussion; I likewise went to the opening night of Episode I at Arizona Mills Mall
I really enjoyed the talk about the new Solar/Magnus book; Zeph's enthusiasm and excitement of reading these new stories made me want to bust out my copy again.
Also, i'm glad to have contributed

There better be banter-otherwise it'd be a pretty short show!Elveen wrote:You know maybe you guys can do some good post unity reads.Dr. Solar wrote:These are good show ideas! Thanks for the input!

I used to do it when I lived in Nevada and had a four hour drive every week (to Lake Havasu and back). There were a couple episodes that I had to cut-down to put onto two discs because they were longer than a cd. Sadly I just shredded the CDs once I was done listening to them.dave wrote:Has anyone ever burnt these to CD's? Not in a protest movement kinda way, it just seems like I always have issues downloading stuff-and most are too long to listen to at work. I'd love to have a disc that I could just pop into my CD player and listen while I drive.
