Thanks for the support, guys!! Im excited as well. Of course, I hope I did everything right on this first order, if not, then its not a big deal, I'll learn as I go :thumb:

Next books to send in will be A&A and Geomancer, I think :hm:

I feel as though those book maps are pretty solid.

Steve,

The X-O books that you sent out. Did you use the Map that you posted earlier in the thread?

Yep, that's what got me to map it out. I think there might be one crossover I missed with Solar 19. But I can't remember off the top of my head.

Page-wise, the books break out:
Book 1 - 860 pages
Book 2 - 892 pages
Book 3 - 956 pages
Book 4 - 900 pages (the VH-2 book for those that want to skip this one)

I was looking through my own maps for VH2 Shadowman
and I plan on doing a slightly differnt path then Steve
It will be four books.
2 Vh1
1-23 & 24-43

2 Vh2
V2 1-20

V3 1-6/Deadside 1-3

I figure it will be a slim book but it seems to make sense as the plot of V3 has nothing to do with V2, save for Mike LeRoi. Just a thought.

Oh my Magnus Vh1 has become 4 books instead of 3.

Book 1:0-20
Book 2:21-29, Rai 15, 30, R 16, 31-35, Rai 20, 36, Rai 21, 37, Rai 22
Book 3:38-42,CE Epilogue 1-2, 43-54
Book 4:55-64, YB, Predator/Magnus 1-2, Magnus/Nexus 1-2, Vintage Magnus 1-4, Original Magnus

Book 5: VH2 1-18

Instead of using early issues, can they bind pages from trades?

I was considering this but haven't put too much thought into it.

Ive sent in my Visitor and Armorines books to be bound. I sent them in several weeks ago and haven't received them back yet. One I receive them back Ill make adjustments to how I order. I figured these two would be two I could replace if I really needed to.

Ill need to call them today and see where my books are. Im itching to send two or three more books in to be bound.

They can, you just have to use a hair dryer to heat up the glue on the spine. Then carefully pull the cover off the books. Then using the hair dryer heat up the glue enough to cut an peel the glue off the pages. This process can also be used for perfect bound books, such as Deathmate.

I plan on doing that for my Rai book as I would rather use the trade as opposed to 3 & 4.

Brian, about your books, I heard LBC is getting a deluge of orders but they should be getting back up to speed quickly so hopefully you will see them sooner than later. I have 8 books in the process of being bound right now, so I will let you know when I get them back.

So YOU are the reason why I havent received my books yet

What did you mean by a Deathmate 'Perfect' book?

I don't have a recent picture of my shelf with my three bound Solar books. I also have X-O Manowar and Trinity Angels out for binding as well.

This is a look at the largest (thickest) book of my collection the 1032 page Archer & Armstrong volume.

Another comic fan who lives in my area has 10-12 with them right now, so people are getting a lot in, must be rebate time.

Perfect bound, comics that do not have a staple in it tend to be perfect bound.

Its when the book is sealed to the cover using glue aka Prestige Format.
Deathmate:Blue, Yellow, Black, and Red are all examples of this.

Ah ok, I understand now. This is why a binding company takes the staples out so that they can glue them. :thumb:

Actually with hardcovers they sew them together. Its why there is a small amound of gutter loss, as the pages near the center cannot spread out as much.

Front flap, I put a brief character synopsis. For example, my upcoming X-O Manowar books will have the following text --

"Aric of Dacia was a Visigoth barbarian born into the strife and war of the 5th century A.D. and where Rome is the center of power and have subjugated his people. A young Aric watched as Romans soldiers first slaughtered his mother and then, his father. He dedicated his life to destroying the Roman oppressors, riding into battle with his uncle Alaric I. Little did he know, he was destined to become one of the greatest warriors of any era.

Some years later Aric took a Celtic slave, Deidre, to be his consort. He grew content with her, even taking to worshiping her god, Lugh, but shortly thereafter, things took a most unusual turn. On an evening’s ride, he came across a grisly scene. Demons of some sort were feeding upon his people. Heedless of the consequences, Aric strode forward to do
battle with the strange creatures but was quickly subdued and taken aboard their alien spacecraft.

For some seven years Aric was held prisoner aboard their craft serving in its foul slave pens. At a refueling station several light-years from
Earth, he befriended a man known as the "Map Giver". The "Map Giver" used a discarded bone shard to carve a map into Aric’s palm, which
would lead the barbarian to the aliens' greatest weapon. Aric fought his way to the X-O Manowar class armor and donned the control ring. With
this living armor he was able to blast his way through the hull of the alien ship and return to the Earth he still believed was his home.

The time dilation effect of near light speed travel on the alien spacecraft meant that while only a few years had passed on board, sixteen centuries
had come and gone on Earth. Everything Aric had ever known was gone – replaced by "modern" civilization. He is now the most primitive man on
the planet, yet he wields the most technologically advanced weapon in existence."

Back flap, I list the comics that are included in that particular volume along with the month and date of publishing.

I've tried to find decent summary write-ups either in magazines or on the web and plagiarized them for my dust jackets.

Steve,
I saw on the other boards you are planning a Magnus book next,
I would really like to see your Map specifically the Maleev war issues.

I have changed my thinking on that book multiple times and while I am somewhat happy with the map I did involving 4 books, I think of having a full on combined Maleev war book for Magnus and Rai would be cool.

So its tricky.

thanks

Magnus/Rai mappings

Post by Steve Topper »

Neil,
I haven't completely mapped out the Magnus volumes yet. I was waiting to get my last shipment in before tackling that project.

Roughly, my plans are to bind the Malev war in its entirety in both the Magnus and Rai books -- so I'm going to need duplicates of that storyline. I have some already, but as I said, I don't have it settled yet.

I'll probably put those runs together when I get back from NYCC.

Let me know and I will add that to the initial post where I've listed the specifics of each title and book. :thumb:

I'd be willing to bet you're going to be happy.

Jeannette called me last week to let me know that my four volume X-O Manowar set and one volume Trinity Angels were ready and being shipped. They'll probably be at home tonight after work. I also included the eight-issue Doc Savage magazine (from Marvel) in this shipment. Total price with shipping was $132.00 for six books.

As a point of reference, it generally takes about four working days to get from Waco TX to SW Ohio. I would expect Michigan would be similar to Ohio. And I guess you'll have to change your profile location now that you've gotten some bound volumes finished :)
