Re: Archer & Armstrong #7 Discussion
I too am surprised that Zorn is not the Eternal Enemy, as the Phoenix tattoo I felt was going to be the new "sign" of the Eternal Enemy (instead of the mismatched eyes) and so assumed that Zorn was the reincarnation of the Chinese illusionist Gilad chops the head off of in Issue 5.

1. Archer & Armstrong 2. X-O Manowar 3. Shadowman 4. Bloodshot 5. Harbinger High End: Archer & Armstrong is just so funny and full of such cutting satire...I love it. Low End: Bloodshot has not been as good past couple of issues (seems like the plot sort of slowed down compared to its origin...

Re: Harbinger #0 Discussion
What I find strange is that Dysart is playing with a real life person. Bashir al-Assad is the current ruler of Syria. As indicated in Harbinger 0, he was groomed for a leadership role after his brother, Bassel, was killed in a car accident, driving his Mercedes through an early morning fog. That se...

Re: X-O cover art nitpick
I guess the artist doing the covers I liked was not Nord but instead Ribic. Nord's are...okay, and more in line with the interior art (since they are by the same artist, heh), but Ribic is clearly working on a whole 'nother level of artistic quality.

On the other hand, Project Rising Spirit, and in this issue in particular a U.S. oil company executive, as a symbolic representative of the U.S. ensures they are not the good guys either. I agree that politics are part of the theme but presuming that one side or the other is being taken is going too...

Haha, yeah, if I were ripped, sure I'd like a tight-fitting T-shirt. But I'm not so...
That said, a T-shirt in, er, larger sizes would be fine.
Jacket would also be cool.

Re: What if the Bleeding Monk...
I'm probably the only person that thinks the Bleeding Monk might actually be something mystical and unrelated to all these nanite/time-travel shenanigans. Something more in line with the Geomancers in his origin, dot on chest notwithstanding.

Re: Harbinger #0 Discussion
I think the strength of the story is its ability to cause us to talk about the underlying morality and ethics of the choices made in it--both the bombing of Japan juxtaposed with Toyo Harada manipulating the war in Syria, and Toyo's reactions to his childhood trauma. Harada is the perfect villain--m...

Re: First Look at Planet Death! XO #9 Preview & SPOILERS
I need to go back and re-read those early books - I thought all his fellow visigoths were killed, other than the kidnapped baby. Looking forward to the new book - thankfully my LCS will be open on Wednesday. While I am eager to see the rest of the Ninjak arc, I'm most excited for Planet Death :) Pe...

Re: X-O cover art nitpick
I have really only liked the Nord covers and whichever artist does those stylized art deco ones. I will say that while the #9 or the #11 Crain is anatomically odd when someone calls attention to it, if you're just looking at it it's fairly innocuous. It's not like a Liefeld drawing or something. Of ...

Re: To READ or NOT to READ the preview pages...
I tend to read and reread most comics I buy (unless they suck, which Valiant has not), so I've never thought about avoiding the previews. I will say I got a bit tired of seeing Gafti get tortured the third (fourth?) time I read it. Reading the Harbinger #0 preview multiple times was also tiresome.

Re: Harbinger Wars - Help?
I assume three TPB's, there's no way they'd do a 12-issue TPB involving multiple titles. And if you only read Bloodshot and not Harbinger/Harbinger Wars you could still pick up the TPB for Harbinger Wars when it comes out if you feel like you couldn't follow what had happened well enough or want to ...

He posted it on CBR forums. Unfortunately I don't have an account so it is very tiny, but looks like what he is describing...anyway, the preview for #11 seems to show him crash landing a Vine ship onto Loam so I assume that is what is in the ad.

Re: Greg's Boon Theory - (Possible spoiler? Maybe?)
They are probably related...I think someone said they thought the Vine had maybe created the Boon or it had come from the same place Shanhara had come from (if the Vine didn't create it but had merely found it) in another thread, so I think you are on to something, since more than one person thinks ...

Yeah, the cover made it look like it was going to be an epic battle, haha. I like where they went with it.
As far as the art goes...I don't think I even noticed it was different, heh.

Re: Shadowman Black discussion thread/review
Yeah, I was kind of disappointed it wasn't going to be more like the urban vigilante of v1 but I was pretty taken by how cool Boniface Sr. looked in that get-up with the scythe and fighting the demons and stuff...I'm okay with it combining v1 into mostly v2 stuff, the Deadside, demons, etc. taking a...

Re: Harbinger #4 Discussion Thread
I thought the turn-around from trying to get Pete to join to having him basically become their enemy was a big quick, too (it basically all takes place in this one comic), but that's probably just because the plots in this and X-O Manowar have been spending more time on character/world building than...

I don't think she is supposed to look good in the dress, she is supposed to look out of place in it because it's not the right size or whatever, she doesn't go out much, etc. , it's supposed to be surprising to the audience that the good looking guy wants to meet her...presumably for nefarious purpo...

Re: XO Manowar #4 Discussion and ***SPOILERS***
I think Alex participating in the orgy (or having a long line of people from both genders waiting to have sex with him) is telling us he's not going to be loyal to the Vine's original mission of invasion. He's fallen in love with the human experience. As for his being bi, I think that was heavily im...

Re: Harbinger 3 - Discussion Thread
I don't think the Bleeding Monk is a "prisoner" in that he sees himself that way. He could care less where his earthly husk resides. He's not interested. Whether it is the Chinese army keeping him "imprisoned" in the Tibetan mountains or Harada keeping him "imprisoned" ...

Re: CBR ShadowMan Preview *SPOILERS*
I think the only problem with the Deadside stuff was the supernatural was almost entirely emphasized to the detriment of Shadowman's urban vigilante aspect in the original Valiant series...I hope there's still an element of that involved along with the supernatural enemies. Basically I hope that, li...

As others have said, it appears to take the life-force from others and insert it into the three brothers (and maybe the dead king and his guards). So the brothers are immortal because they have the life-force of thousands and thousands of people in their bodies. This gives them their healing factor ...

I have the feeling whether you thought this book was a rip-roaringly funny satire or a painfully dull slog full of broad caricatures is going to depend on your political leanings... I, personally, thought it was a hilarious take on neocons, Christian conservatives, and Wall Street. The ending, when ...

Re: Got to read the new X-O Manowar #1 today!
Read it, loved it, want more. There's some decent stuff going on over at DC (Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Demon Knights, the new Batman), but there's nothing like the Valiant universe. I've been waiting for this for years. I was really annoyed when Turok: Son of Stone got cancelled after just two issues...
