Having two 'out of the United States' collectors here, let me ask you a question. How difficult is it to get Valiant books in your countries AND do you have any idea of how large the Valiant fan base is in your countries ? Thanks, Chris I got most of my collection when I lived in the states (btw th...

the Captain Johnner compilation Which one? To be precise: The same compilation was released twice. five Lost In Space and almost a full run of Mighty Samson. These latter two series are not Valiant related, but have great artwork and stories. Must agree. One Valiant connection - I have a Lost on Sp...

The writer had big plans. Also I believe the indice (sp?) of the comic does not say it's a one-shot. That was probably decided late (instead of making it an on-going series).

Nope, I use an a4 scanner, fladbed and crop the images and paste them together in photoshop. I'm very impressed. If it would be possible in Acrobat (and not more work - maybe easier?) to put the cropped images side-by-side as two seperate images still showing up as nicely on the screen, then I'd li...

Re: YW

Now Myron, by downloading the books, you have to promise to tell me what you think. Should I keep doing side-by-side, or split them into individual pages? This goes for all of you as well! =) -Dave in IL First off, very nice work. For your question I see the choice between the perfect fit you have ...

Any lawyers out there up on copywrite law??? Not a lawyer, but I've checked the subject. Here's a link to a great text: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/law/copyright/myths/part1/ being a teacher I copy about anything I do not know the exact limits of "fair use", but one can copy more for educati...

What do you guys think, which "universe" VH1 or VH2 should the three Iron Man books be considered part of? Oy. Tough. About the two first ones. They have a Valiant logo. The first one had Layton as EIC. That one also calls Aric the real X-O. So they're VH1. They have ads for VH2 comics, t...

I'll admit that I have zero expertise in original art. But still you bring up some of the most thought-through statements I've seen about the topic... While I'm sure there are some fantastic bargains out there... I probably wouldn't recognize them most of the time. Few of the experts would either. ...

Yes and after looking at it again there is a trash can in the left hand bottom corner. So Solar 3 it is then. I guess it's a really good page as I remembered it just from your description (ok, not exact issue, but that is was an early one). I don't have Solar 3 so if it in that book that would expl...

As far as I know: One black and white print for each of the 18 unity covers, and two color prints, each with the combined image from the eight covers by Miller and Simonson resp.

Re: Collections

Would it be out of the question if I suggested that a list, similar to the collector's inventories that used to be on this page, be made for personal collections of Valiant original art pieces? I think it would be fascinating to find out what pieces are in private hands, and what remains in a drawe...

I was wondering who everyones 5 favorite pencillers were? Number one's real easy: Jim Calafiore. Then there's too many to try and order them. Some that stand out immediately are: Paul Creddick, Grey, Lee Weeks, Sean Chen, Bernard Chang, BWS, David Lapham, Don Perlin, Rags Morales. Give me a few mom...

Comic Art Techniques - Original Art and Artifacts

On the old board there was often questions about all the techniques Valiant used. Maybe we can manage to get a list of them all. From the top of my head I can start off with: Normal ink pages - nothing special except the lack of lettering. Sometimes empty speech bubbles were drawn, often they were g...
