Re: What comics are you reading now?

Been catching up on comics I missed over the past 8 years. Darkwing Duck from Boom-Read the first 2 storylines so far. Damn this is a great comic. The Extinction Parade-Never heard of this. But my GF found the first trade racked with the kids books at Walmart. And bought it for me as an early Hallow...

Me too. Loved the Gary Frank art on Motormouth. It and Dark Angel are the only Marvel UK stuff I have read.

Re: What Draws You To Dead Universes?

In the 90s I read Ultraverse and Valiant. But stopped reading most comics in 94. Then about a year after this forum started I found it. And it got me interested in re-reading Valiant. So I hit my LCS and saw that lots of the 90s indy universe stuff was in the cheap bin. So I grabbed lots. 1.The pric...

Re: Underappreciated/Undervalued 1st Appearances

I'm going to start working on my Groo the Wanderer set now! I'd love to see the groo 1s and destroyer duck 1 shoot up. It would validate my buying of all the decent copies I find for a buck. I'd probably still keep them all. Love me some groo. I have a mid grade run of the first 10 of Groo that was...

Re: Crossgen Comics appreciation and memories thread.

There is not really any expensive crossgen books. Sojourn #1 is prob the most expensive. Some of the retailer reviews can be more difficult to find, but should not be that expensive. Some of the rarer items are the mini trades, I forget what they call them but the are physically smaller. And the DV...

I have acquired close to 15 random Impact comics. Besides the Who's Who binder is there anything harder to find? And any series I should start with. Haven't read any of the issues I own so far.

Re: Crossgen Comics appreciation and memories thread.

I was out of comics through out most of Crossgen's run. But 2 years ago got a bunch of the Forge and Edge trades for $2 each. Read them and really enjoyed them. Been slowly grabbing the other trades and some singles cheaply. So far there doesn't seem to be any real expensive issues.

Re: Comic for 9-year-old girl

YEAH! I never hear anyone talking about this short lived all ages series. You got Peter Bagge writing a fun series about an all girl rock band. Who are unknown on Earth. But huge on every other planet. It ran 9 issues from DC. And they should be easy to find. A few years back Fantagraphic put out a ...

Re: How should i read Doom Patrol v2

I liked the run after Morrison's run. Just this year I finished my Doom Patrol vol 2 run. While you don't have to read the issues before Grant took over the writing duties. They do help you get a grasp on some of the characters. I find Doom Patrol vol 2 to be a very under-rated book. And think it sh...

Re: Rob Liefeld. Love him, or hate him? Please explain

I think he is a good idea guy. Just fails at plotting the idea out. Stuff like Supreme,Youngblood and Brigade are good ideas. That were badly executed.

I usually refer to Rob as "The Ed Wood of comics".

Coast con 2012 Biloxi MS March 16th,17,and 18th

Just curious if anyone else is going this year. Met up with Sanman last year and it was a fun con. They got in some decent guest this year and the dealer's room is suppose to be even bigger.

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast

I actually like Team Youngblood :) (avoids thrown rocks) Granted, there's nothing cerebral or very memorable to the stories/characters (except for the outlandish costumes and the 90's GRIT), but I still dig 'em :) I have been digging the various liefeld stuff outta the cheap bins the past few years...

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast

My top 3 desert island comics is so hard to choose. If this had been 10 years ago Gaiman's run on Sandman would be number 1. But I reread it a few years ago and it didn't hold up to well to me. Lots of it feel like filler. 3.Defenders-the original 152 issue plus annuals run. Still one of my favorite...

Animal Man all the way through. This is gonna be my next big reading project after I finish reading the Alan Moore Swamp Thing run. I remember when I saw ads for Triumphant in Wizard. And thought it had to be the bottom of the barrel of that era. Well last year I had won on ebay and random lot of 100 comics. And in there was an almost complete run of Chromium Man. So I read it,and besides the art not being that great it had a go...

I read all of the New universe stuff for the first 3 months. Then stuck with DP7,Nightmask and Psi Force. Loved all three. Then years later managed to get all the other series outta the 25 cent bins and enjoyed most of them.
