Re: Loeb and Sale

I've heard that his Batman/Superman (or is it Superman/Batman?) stuff is good and I've wanted to check it out for awhile. Is it worth the time/effort/money to track down? Don't bother with Superman/Batman, it's crap. It has some of the cliche Loeb-isms one comes to expect. For example, in the Super...

Re: What comics are you reading now?

Just started Thunderbolts from the beginning. Pretty good start so far and definitely want to find out where it is going. You won't go wrong with Thunderbolts. It's not deep reading, but it's a fun, old-style series with twists & turns the whole way through. I consider it a bit of a guilty plea...

Re: Dark Horse Gold Key Release Dates

StarBrand wrote:Less than 4 weeks to Dr Solar 8. After that, perhaps the next book out in this line will be The Occultist #1 from the upcoming 4 issue mini. Of course, we could be seeing Turok 3 or Mighty Samson 4 scheduled at anytime.

I'm hoping for Turok.

Re: Dark Avengers

The Ellis/Deodato run on Thunderbolts was the pre-cursor to Dark Avengers, and was better.

Bendis did well in carrying that storyline, but his writing wasn't up to par with Warren Ellis.

If anyone's looking for a set of early Valiant Solar issues

I was messing around on ebay and saw this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/Solar-Set-1-33-NM-M-Never-Read-Gem-Solid-Perfect-/330600427173?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf9522ea5" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's not my auction, so it's why I posted it here and not in th...

Current writers: Grant Morrison, Ed Brubaker, Paul Dini (enjoying his Zatanna run), Bryan Q Miller, and Jim Shooter (loving the current arc on Dr. Solar, as well as Turok)......I like Geoff Johns from time to time......I liked Straczynski's work on Supreme Power & Thor (Although his Thor run had...

I'm worried that this heralded return may only be for a few lingering, embittered fans. I think part of the problem may be 'new readers'. I do not know the specific demographics for readers and their ages these days but if I am not mistaken 'new readership' is low. I have even had kids ask me why I...

Re: Dr. Solar #6

Just finished reading Dr. Solar #6. I really enjoyed the first story which is in ongoing continuity. However, the origin story... staggering. Shooter's new Dr. Solar origin he wrote for this line is shaping up to be perhaps the best comic book story I've ever read. Agreed, it's a fine continuation ...

It was a very enjoyable read. I liked it more than issue #1......I've been surprised at how much I've liked Turok, as I never cared for the original Valiant title.

Anyway, she has been very supportive and understanding about so many things, besides comics and my involvement here, so it was nice to get my reading/collecting out in the open. This weekend we have a family reception on Friday, at the Angola Rodeo on Saturday, and dinner with my family Sunday—she’...

Sandman vol 2 - The Dolls House. Not my cup of tea. I like the overall story, but the stuff in the middle..... all the foo-foo stuff is a bit much for me. Way too Grant Morrison (the bad one) for me. I'll definitely try the next trade, but I may end up hitting the eject button on this series. I see...

I just finished week 14 last night of 52. Y'all are absolutely correct that this series is VERY well done :) I particularly love the stories with Elongated Man in them. Since I have previously read "Blackest Night" and know Ralph's ultimate fate, it's cool to see how he goes down this pat...

52 is good. The best part of "Countdown" was a Superboy-Prime fight issue somewhere passed issue #25 I think. But not worth buying as a whole series. A chunk of that series was a mess. I thought the Piper/Trickster storyline in Countdown was alright, for the most part, but everything else...

Anyone who got out because they did not like 1 - 4 should buy 5, it is absolutely the best thus far, as good as pre-unity, and, in my opinion, the best new comic I have read in a long time. I am now really exited about this line. We need to help get others into it, just like many did in the early V...

Also, I was wondering what you guys were referring to when mentioning "Alpha and Omega".......I did a search on an online shop, and noticed I could have spent $11-$12 for a 2nd printing of that tpb, rather than the $45 I spent on the single issues of Solar #1-10.

Oh, well.........

It will be hard to top Alpha & Omega, especially around here ;). I'm curious what the page count will be. You wouldn't think the back-ups would be more than 8 pages... x 4 issues = 32 pages. Guess that would be about right for a '0' issue. Hey JC do you remember what the page count was? It was ...

A Solar HC would have sold a lot better than Archer & Armstrong. Solar, on the other hand, has the first 10 issues being far more expensive. This is true. The problem is, they don't own the rights to Solar. That certainly explains the lack of a hardcover release. I don't feel as bad over having...

It seems if VEI has the rights to reprint the early Solar and Magnus stories in archive format, they would be sure-fire winners. I doubt it. All that stuff is still very easily attainable through trades or singles. Where can I pick up the early Shooter Solar stories cheap? Ebay. You can't put a run...
