Re: Magnus #1 sells for $2,000+? Really!
Yup. Heritage sold a lot of 70,000 copies for less than $5,500 (plus shipping). That's what? $.08 per? Or basically the same as some later Valiants are worth.
Good investment, however--lately, Heritage has been selling them in bulk for $3 or so per.

Re: Magnus #1 sells for $2,000+? Really!
Ha--the parallels are similar. I bet it's just as hard to hunt down a 9.8 Dr. Mirage # 11 as it is to find even a slabbed 9.0/9.2 copy of Gold Key Magnus # 43 or 45.
I feel your pain, man. Good luck in the hunt!

Re: Magnus #1 sells for $2,000+? Really!
A 9.4 set's really tough. My estimate is that it would take $10,000-$15,000 for 1-46. Current FMV's probably $11,000, but then you've got to consider that some of the books are (so far) only available from me or IronMike (the # 2 registry holder), so you'd have to either bribe us with absurd bountie...

Re: Magnus #1 sells for $2,000+? Really!
Howdy, Rai-fan here. I'm the # 1 Gold Key Magnus registry set owner, and I won the 9.4 Magnus # 1 in question last week (although it's not yet reflected in my registry set). See here: http://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/PeopleSetDetail.aspx?PeopleSetID=44535" onclick="...

Re: CGC 9.4 Dr. Solar #1 (1962) - $1,400+
After not selling publicly (via GPA, at least) since 2009, this is the third CGC 9.4 copy of Doctor Solar # 1 (out of 7 total) to sell in the last four months. I won the first copy, for $1575, and Doc Joe (CGC boards) purportedly won the other two (at $1400+ each). Posted that he forgot he won the s...

By my count, the new Valiant already has nearly as many variant/second prints released or announced (in six months) as VH1 had for the whole line in six years.

Re: 1st Turok (1954) for $8K? Wow.
Note that this 9.4 copy of the first Turok sold in last week's C-link auction for ~$5,300. Lower than my $5,500 estimate a year ago, but more than the $4995 for it was listed on eBay.
I still think it was a good buy at that price.

Re: Thank you Comiclink!
Congrats :thumb: A while back, almost or all the interior pages to the issue were being sold on eBay as a lot. I think some of the pages are still up on eBay. Yeah--the owner advertised something like 36 of the pages for $3200. That was too much. Looking at eBay, it looks like about half have now s...

Thank you Comiclink!
Surprised to have won this one last night on Comiclink, as when I put in my bid hours early, it came back as "Reserve not met." Overpaid for a Valiant cover, but it's both Mike Zeck and full of awesomeness. Bloodshot: Last Stand http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu173/gaebler2003/Bloodsho...

Have to admit--I never read N.I.O. Bought my set for ~$1 apiece back in the day for completion's sake. (Yeah--I overpaid, but whatever.) Never felt the urge to look inside.

Re: Most of you will hate me for even suggesting this...
I could see Troublemakers and Trinity Angels working. Seriously--did any of you actually read these books? Like everyone else, I didn't buy them off the stands, but I did go back and read a majority of the VH2 titles later on. Shadowman and Bloodshot were arguably better than the VH1 versions (well,...

Re: The covers we'll probably never get to see....
Why did X-O # 1 get 2nd-4th printings while we presume that Bloodshot and Harbinger 1 won't?
Particularly when X-O 1's print run was a good 10,000 or so higher than that of those books?
I think it's just a matter of time before we see additional printings of those books, particularly Bloodshot.

WTB: CGC Gold Key Magnus
I'm trying to build a set of high-grade Gold Key Magnus, Robot Fighter. Am looking for these 10 issues in CGC 8.5 or higher (preferably 9.4 or higher). Am also always looking for upgrades, so let me know what slabs you have, # 1-46. I'll pay market rate based on recent GPA or Comiclink (since I prob...

Bump.
Update: Still looking for slabbed copies of Gold Key Magnus Robot Fighter. I have a bunch; looking for the others, particularly # 29+.
PM me if you've got 'em!

Re: Secret Weapons # 1 cover sold
And for reference, I didn't win the Secret Weapons # 1 cover. I'm just trying to gauge whether it was "worth" $550 (acknowledging that it was in no way worth $700). From what I could gather, non-key 3rd-tier post-Unity covers (like those of HARD Corps, Armorines, Timewalker, Psi Lords), go...

Re: Secret Weapons # 1 cover sold
My mistake. I checked my records and I paid just shy of $600 for the Chaos Effect Alpha cover. Still a chunk of change for essentially a minor key, but a few years ago slabbed copies of the red variant alone went for almost that much. Also, the fact the artists were Jurgens-Ordway (rather than St. P...

Secret Weapons # 1 cover sold
The cover to Secret Weapons # 1 sold over the weekend for $550. Wondering what others think of the price. It passed at auction last week for $800, and was re-listed as a Best Offer with $700 Buy-It-Now. I don't know--it's a semi-key cover, but seems like a consolation prize relative to some pre-Unit...

Let's see the line prove they can make it past issue 10 for three titles before they try for a company-wide Unity-style crossover.

Wow...the most disturbing thing about that is that I'm as old now as Chuck was in 1990.
What--does that make him 19 years old when he found the Mile High collection?

Re: Tougher Acclaim to find: SM v.3 #6, Unity 2000 #3, Arm.
Armorines 4 for me too. I've never seen one, and I bought both Unity 2000 # 2 and Armorines # 3 off the rack from a LCS back when they were released. The next month, the shop got neither Unity 2000 # 3 nor Armorines # 4. I found Shadowman 6 and Unity 2000 # 3 easily about 8 years back and have subse...

Great pick-up! I met Mike Leeke at a store signing in Philly back when that issue was released. Great guy--we talked for about 20 minutes about the *SQUEE* Marvel was pulling that month with the "death of Mr. Fantastic" in FF # 381. So I'll have to content myself with a signed copy of Hard...

Needed: VH1 Ninjak readers
Long-time board member and Valiant collector here. I'm looking for the cheapest reading set of Ninjak that I can find. I've got all of them but they're in storage back in Philly. I want to read the first 20 or so issues for as cheap as possible. If they're online somewhere, that would suffice. Anyon...
