Had it there before, ASM newsstands seem to have a bit of cache on ebay. Some of the NM87s are newsstands but I didn't bother counting how many.greg wrote: EDIT: I see some of the ASM #361 are newsstand... did you edit that, or did I completely overlook it?

Re: Lobo's CGC submission thread
Are you noting the newsstand books among these? It's not a solid market yet, but newsstands from about 1984 or newer can have a slight premium for collectors. Newsstand collectors prefer to pay "direct edition" price, but sellers who know the difference can usually find a buyer who will p...

Lobo's CGC submission thread
Well... I haven't done any personal submissions to CGC in almost 10 years(!). But starting this week I'll be getting back the first of what will be hundreds of books that I'm sending in. The first few batches won't have any Valiants yet but I promise to have some nice books coming back. I'll report ...

Re: Is this asking price legit?
In other words, it's probably far safer to sell a "suddenly hot" book while the CGC 9.8 book is "low supply" than to be buying one. A perfect example from this same timeframe is probably G.I. Joe #21 (1984). Multiple copies of CGC 9.8 G.I. Joe #21 sold above $2,000 in mid-2009, ...

Pretty sure I have more than 1000 Valiant slabs, if you count VEI, Nintendo and Acclaim books. Steve, That is very impressive! That is a very dedicated and focused goal to reach. I think there are just a few of us that belong in that club. I'm curious to know who all have reached this goal? I think...

Re: Latest haul.. 7-9-18
I remember when you couldn’t give those books away. Literally for decades. Well there is still a huge abundance of them in raw condition but because they were (mostly) sitting in sealed polybags all these years the condition of these books has suffered. Finding a 'virgin' 9.8 is almost impossible n...

Re: Harbinger 1 9.8 is a beast
but could this be a $2K book? It damn well better! I paid peak price of almost $2000 for CGC 9.8SS quite a few years ago now, when the census count was much less 50 for 9.8 copies. I've since mitigated my 'loss' by buying many more 9.8 copies in the $300-$500 range. Playing the long game on t...

Re: Eternal Warrior #3 CGC 9.8 (original 90s series)
Funny thing about about common, non-key, Valiants from the 90s is that very few people see it economical to slab any sure fire raw 9.8s because the effort and ROI is probably minimal. Would anyone pay $100 (or more) to acquire a CGC 9.8 copy? There is already 14 in the census but if you really want ...

Maybe this is an abnormality, but a friend of mine (Speedy from here) and I have gotten grades back varying from 9.0 to 9.6, and have gotten zero graders notes. They were submitted at ECCC, regular press/slab, nothing special. Zero graders notes... It had been kind of bugging me, so I called and th...

Re: CGC 9.9
I've never seen graders notes for a 10.0 or 9.9 or even a 9.8 to be honest. I don't think there are any. One of the reasons that modern books cost less to grade is that the amount of time spent grading them is less (on average). Since the "goal" of submitting moderns is to get a CGC 9.8 (...

Re: CGC 9.9
But I dont know the difference between a 9.9 and 10.0. 10.0 is a perfect book, end of story. A 9.9 probably has one, almost imperceptible flaw, that you can't spot through the plastic slab so two of the same book, one graded 9.9 and one graded 10.0 sitting side by side in their slabs will likely ap...
