Re: The Death of Shanhara
While I may not have the sense of nostalgia for original Valiant like the vast majority of you, I felt that this arc was very strong and reinforced by Turok's second cameo appearance. Watching Shanhara slowly degrade overtime under Randy's watch (especially during her fight with Ax) was an interesti...

Re: The Valiant #1 Sells Out Of 22,000 First Print Run
I'm wondering if Ninjak can top Rai ... and maybe even challenge X-O for top selling first issue for VEI :hm: Since Ninjak has only really appeared in X-O and Unity, I'd doubt it. There also hasn't even been the foundation of the Weaponeer organization fro him to stand on this time around But peopl...

Best Team Up Book?
What was the best overall team-up book of the original valiant universe?
Armorines, Secret Weapons (original/reformed), or H.A.R.D. Corps?
*edit* I thought of initially including Harbinger, but now I'm not so sure considering how universally praised it was

Thoughts on this book? Premise sounded rather interesting, though the execution was somewhat lacking

Re: DC Announces Convergence
So basically this "event" is about different versions of the DCU fighting each other? PASS. One could almost call it a "Battle World" of sorts, or perhaps even a "Secret War" But really, this looks lame and I don't really appreciate them bringing back Hal Jordan as Par...

Re: IDW's Colorizations
Yeah, I thought getting the TMNT Color Classics would be a cheap way to get all the old series books, but after a few I was like, this isn't the way to read this stuff at all. And what's weird is they have sets that are in B&W (the Ultimate Collections), but they're more like "Best Of Book...

IDW's Colorizations
Anyone find it kind of annoying that IDW feels the need to "colorize" previously B&W classic content like Judge Dredd & TMNT? I'm sure that their intentions are pure, but they should have tried to follow the golden rule of "it's not broke, don't fix it"

About Bloodshot #1
For the longest time I've had an issue with Barry Windsor-Smith's artwork for the Chronium decal on the front of Bloodshot #1 (and I suppose for the mini-poster inside as well). http://cdn.badassdigest.com/uploads/images/18765/bloodshot01__span.jpg I like his artwork, but I don't necessarily think i...

Re: What do you think about the 4,99$ price tag
I find it rare enough to read an issue I think is worth four dollars. I would probably bite the bullet and turn all digital or trade wait. Digital copies cost just as much as they do in print for a reason I'm not entirely sure of. Some say it's because the market's young and they can get away with ...

Re: New Howard The Duck On-Going
Not sure I can get behind a Howard the Duck book with no Steve Gerber. Personally, I'm just happy that they're actually doing something with the character. I enjoyed Steve's writing because it was essentially him but in anthromorphic duck form using the comic as a soap box to adress the truly odd t...

Valiant vs Acclaim- Shadowman
Was kind of curious as to the opinions of these two respective titles as their both very different. I read the original Valiant Shadowman up to issue 9. I liked the idea of a "Voodoo Superhero in the Big Easy" (being raised in New Orleans myself) but the execution was a bit lacking, which ...

Re: What do you think about the 4,99$ price tag
The price tag for a 4-color-on-newsprint book that would otherwise be $4.99, would be $4.75. As much as the price of wood & paper products have gone up, that's not the reason books are priced as they are. Then please excuse my statement Also, the early VALIANT suerhero books were $1.95 (same as...

Re: Aside from Valiant....
I'm really not all that partial to any one particular company so long as the story is well written and concise. I have however been reading a good portion of DC's New 52 line and most of it isn't bad as it's been made out to be though it's overall execution could have been better thought out

Re: Best Superhero Team Book..?
Justice League Dark is certainly an interesting one, Red Hood & The Outlaws is fairly good as well though it has gotten some serious flak on the internet for it's "overly sexualized" portrayal of Starfire........ Aside from that, Volume 1 of Excalibur (1988-1998) comes highly recommended

Re: What do you think about the 4,99$ price tag
When I was younger (9, 10) and still collecting comics on a regular basis the average price was around $1.99 or so I believe. But then when I started collecting older books like classic Valiant and the like, I was amazed that they originally solid for $2.50, sometimes close to $3. But then you take ...

The Forgotten 2000 AD Serials
In it's 40 plus years of ass-kicking, 2000 AD has churned out a lot of comic serials, some of them even helping launch careers of some now very well known writers and artists respectively. Going through my rather huge stockpile of old progs from the 90's, there's a wealth of fairly promising ones th...

Re: Elementals... Comico defunct, CO2 have rights?
Would love to see Elementals done right by someone though. :hm: Would be truly off the charts if Valiant... nah... :P I've given thought to the idea of Valiant purchasing the rights to the Ultraverse from Marvel, but the problem is "how would it fit into the already established universe?"...

Re: Ultraverse Golds
Indeed. Sludge is my favourite of those UV books pre-Marvel and its BS BS; especially Aaron Lopresti's art. :) Sludge was kind of shocking to me because of how well written it was (I've only really known Gerber previously from Howard The Duck & it's Marvel Max successor), there's also a very de...
