Re: Is this a sign of popularity?

First post on the boards, hello! I bought the book. I've never seen it on the market in CGC, let alone a CGC 9.8. I was willing to go upwards of $700 for this book. Call me crazy but I think it's worth it. Welcome! And congrats on scoring that book! I considered going up to $550 on it but sounds li...

Re: Is this a sign of popularity?

While I did not think that book would go for that high (I figured maybe $350 tops), I'm not totally surprised. That is the one VEI variant that I have not once seen for sale since I started collecting the tough variants five months ago. I've pretty much got them all except Shadowman #1 Gold. And tha...

And I don't think Raul Allen's art was bad, but it's just so different from Mann's work so it will take some getting used to. No worries there, this arc has rotating artist, Mann will be back to finished the arc in November's issue #9. Actually, I would prefer they keep one artist on the story arc....

Re: Dead Drop #4

I will be the contrarian here and say I didn't hate this issue, or the series. There was a sort of light-hearted vibe to the whole thing that I liked. And it was all very readable. And cool art as well. I actually look forward to reading all issues of Dead Drop in one sitting to see how it plays out...

Re: Ninjak #6

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about the main story. The art change was jarring and, as others have said, the villain was silly. Still, there were some good moments. I enjoyed the back-up story as well. The art change there wasn't as jarring but I agree it would have been nice to have Guice do that entire arc...

Well, color me surprised. I don't pop into the published issue discussions sub-forum too often, but I read #19 and #20 back to back today and liked them so much I thought I'd come rave about them. I guess I'm in the minority. I'm digging War-monger and her inexplicably modern and flip tendencies fo...

Re: BOD: The Fall of Ninjak - Discussion

Definitely an enjoyable read, but I felt the ending, with the apparent failure of Ninjak's and Gin-GR's attack on Japan, was a bit disappointing. Of course they couldn't succeed in destroying Japan, since it's a firmly established part of the future VEI universe, but it would have been nice to see N...

Re: Imperium #7 Discussion

It's always fun and interesting seeing Harada on the defensive, as he was this entire issue. A question though. In the scene where Divinity grants the members of Harada's team their version of 'happiness', Sunlight-On-Snow wants to become a mountain? I think it's the mountain from his first "m...

Re: 8/05/2015 no new valiant books anywhere in Nashville

None at my LCS here in San Diego. So bummed!!! I've been picking up mine from Yesteryear lately, they seem to have a good selection. Yeah, Michael at Yesteryear seems to be the lone comic shop owner in San Diego that really supports Valiant. I've picked up some of the rare variants from him and he ...

Re: Divinity #1 price/sales tracking

Not sure if it will be a mega expensive book, but I wouldn't be shocked if the less common variants stand out slightly due to the appearance and relative scarcity. Too bad they aren't doing a 1:50 variant of Imperium #7. With the relatively low print run of that title, a 1:50 would be legitimately ...

Re: Most desired VEI Variant

And after reading the whole thread, I would like to nominate a book that no one else has so far. Of all the valiant books I've been collecting this was the hardest one to find and it's not even in mint condition....drum roll for effect.... Shadowman 13 Shane Davis variant. This was a 1:50 variant (...

Re: Most desired VEI Variant

A V1 9.8 is easier to get than a VEI 9.4, even though they are 25 years older. Yesterday, I went to a shop to pull Book of Death candidates, because my mail order books don't always come in top condition. Because of the covers, I got great copies. Fall of Bloodshot? I went through about 30 copies a...

Re: Most desired VEI Variant

I have managed to track down all of those on the list over the past few months with the exception of Shadowman #1 Gold, so that has been the most elusive for me. I also think the Shadowman black retailer preview (or whatever it's called) should go on the list, although a few of them have been showin...

I also enjoyed this issue. I am glad to get the reveal of what's really going on in this story, and for the change from the formula of the first two issues. While it doesn't fully explain the "off" behavior of XO and Archer in the first two issues, this issue does bring some direction and ...

Can't please everyone. Personally, I like that this event is geared to more of the hard core fans, like myself. I'm tired of being summarized to constantly when I've read all the books and all the stories. And let's face it, every DC and Marvel event is so mired in continuity that BoD barely compar...

Re: WTB Harbinger Wars 1 and 3 Zircher variants

Amazing results for these books! It's good to see, especially since I just submitted my copies of some of these same VEI Variants to CGC this past weekend at SDCC. And I was finally able to nab the Archer & Armstrong #10 1:50 variant I had been looking for. I also bid on the X-O #19 1:30 variant...

I was there. It was a fun panel, but I wish there had been a bigger overall Valiant presence at SDCC. I didn't even see any dealers selling VEI back issues or variants. And the panel wasn't very heavily attended. And I was the one at the panel who asked the Divinity questions. :D I was surprised Kin...

Anybody notice that the Divinity #1 1:40 Larosa in CGC 9.8 with a BIN price of $649 (I think that was the price) on eBay has sold? Not sure if it sold for that amount -- the seller may have accepted a lower offer -- but that's a pretty significant sale if it happened. The seller ended the listing b...
