His character co-owns a minicab company in Coranation Street. Minicabs or 'private hire' cabs are like really small fleet taxis, using regular cars, and not to be confused with ye old British black cabs.

Have been bidding on a CGC 9.8 Chaos Effect Omega Gold, but have given up as I don't know if I can justify more than 15 GBP (circa nearly $30 US?), incl post and packing. And that assumes I don't end in abidding war. You guys are welcome to convince me otherwise. On the plus side I have just receive...

Getting into VALIANT now, one of the refreshing things is that the bad guys are not like DC's and Marvel's in that they are not villains for villainys sake. The downside is that many don't have that 'presence' of big-time villains in the big two U's. That said, Master Darque, Harada and the Immortal...

Can't beleive i forgot to mention Blackadder (true work of genius and the saddest ending to any sitcom ever, surely) and Red Dwarf. Still hopeful for the RD movie, but it looks as though that won't happen. To strangely bring the discussion back to my earlier post, Craig Charles (Lister) is actually ...

I came late to jump aboard the good ship VALIANT, but am determined to catch up. My original aim was to have a complete set of the stories, but I have started to pick up the odd premium book. I'd guess to being about 30%-40% there, maybe more (I have to update my inventory). Working toward 100% of t...

US soap operas sound soooo much cooler than brit ones. We have: Coaranation Street - life in Manchester's back streets with the odd 'comedy' character. Uggh! Eastenders - dreary soap set in a fictionalised London's East End, complete with far too many crap gangsters. Emmerdale - life in a farming v...

No, I meant Identity Crisis. I used this as an example because it impacted on the DCU with lasting effects (as CW does for MU) and showed that writing for comics 'events' can be bold. I didn't make the comparison for global effect, although ultimately it was the revelations about what the JLoA did t...

So far I have *kind of* enjoyed Civil War, but can't quite pin down why not totally. The book is written to a big blockbuster IMHO which is why the Spider-Man reveal fits - that would work in a movie but would screw up a regular ongoing series (think TV series like 24) since the basic premise is cha...

The only problem I found with the poll was the USD-GBP conversion rate. Which will be differnt tomorrow of course. Plus, thinking about just how much I spend is well, frightening. The less my fiancee knows about my comics expenditure the better. To help justify my purchases to myself I encourage to ...

Re: Timeline of the VALIANT Universe

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_the_Valiant_Universe Someone did alot of work :o That would be me. I'm new to these boards, but I've been on Wikipedia for about a year. I just recently started re-reading my VALIANT collection (roughly in chronological order--just finished Unity), & was...

Shadowman. It was the first title I grabbed a few issues of (early teens numbers) and it grabbed me. Still haven't tried everthying on the list but most of them, and it is still Shadowman for me.

Thing is, IIRC Legion of Super-Heroes #300 (early 1980's) did something similar using past artists to illustrate a story with skewed versions of Legion history and possible future(s).

Your art style seems to have changed judging by the cover, looks a little more cartoony (not necessarily a bad thing, just different). I really enjoyed your VALIANT stuff, loved the quite delicate lines. Is this a conscious decision for this graphic novel, or part of an ongoing evolution of your sty...

I enjoyed the new JLoA 0 and 1. It seemed reminiscent of classic late 70's/early 80's JLoA. Only thing I wasn't too fussed on is that RT has a human body. Android all the way is the way it should be (but I suspect that this will be rectified in the initial storyline).
