Re: Valiant & Diversity: No-Holds-Barred Discussion!

Just and simply for the purpose of getting this ball rolling:

Valiant comics have gone down the pan because they've replaced all their good creatives with a bunch of queers and ethnics.

Who agrees, who doesn't, and why?

Re: VALIANT NOVEMBER 2019 COMIC BOOK SALES!

I find it interesting that after someone dropped a link to a news report on the new XO comic in this thread that the conversation didn't shift drastically to that, but remained an arguament about alleged diversity hiring at Valiant. Can I propose that we simply create a single thread on the board w...

Maybe just good comics sold cheap? $1.99 standard comic book price across the industry: now there's a #badidea I could get behind :) It'll only take one publisher to have success with the idea before it catches on! :p I don't recall which episode of OTV podcast but the guys there were talking about...

Re: "today's 14 year olds don't care one twit about comics"

'Comic films' and 'comic comics' are basically two seperate media forms imo. Almost everyone I know my age will tell you that they love the Marvel films, but NONE of them read any marvel comics. People just don't seem to have any desire to make the jump across media in the general sense, for whatev...

Re: GV #141 guest refers to "the 4 big characters" of today

I'm a huge fan of EW, but man, nobody buys that title. Me too. Sad every time Eternal Warrior is mentioned on this forum because the character is great. I just don't know why it won't stick. The Big Four Vs. The Big of OF TODAY - Important distinction to be made here I think folks. So, I'd say, the...

Re:

Seems to me they over supply already (through incentives and return-ability)... Although it's not what you meant by "over-supply", I feel that the big two byfar over-do their lines. What I mean is, the reason I like Valiant is that there's only ever one narrative per title at one point in time, eg:...

Re: DMG has another massive bomb...

I'm not sure I feel this is directly related to Valiant if I'm honest. I know Valiant is owned by DMG, sure, but I don't know if a total bomb of a film is entirely reflective of DMG as a company. The next film they invested in might smash the box office apart, who can say? And were they responsible...

Re: Let’s talk solutions to fix Valiant!

Maybe getting all the writers and editors together for annual 'Valiant retreats' like they used to do until the buyout would help bring some cohesion back into the universe. Sit all the creatives down in a cabin for three days and let them knock ideas about and plan some narrative events that have ...

Re: Let’s talk solutions to fix Valiant!

Livewire shut down the power to the entire USA, but I can't remember that having even the slightest impact on ANY other title occurring at the same time in the VU The power outage was shown in Quantum & Woody at the time (issue #6), although nothing else in that arc tied in to HWII. Also, in Ninja-...

Re: Let’s talk solutions to fix Valiant!

I sometimes wonder if 'being past the honeymoon period' has a lot to do with how I/others feel less excited about Valiant these days. When they launched in 2012 and ran the first couple of years everything was new and exciting and there was a ton of narrative-based speculation to be had. These days...

Re: Is Valiant more emotionally mature than most publishers?

Do you mean 'mainstream superhero comic publishers' specifically? There are a lot of indy and alt publishers constituting 'the industry' that publish plenty of emotionally mature content, so relative to that bunch... But relative to 'mainstream superhero comic publishers'? I don't know, there's bee...

Re: VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT February 2020 Solicitations

x2 issues of the same title in the same month is weird. I know I've always wanted a small number of monthlies published for the foreseeable so that I can stay all-in on the VU, but I think I can handle more than 6 titles per month... Gimmie 9 or 10. Guess we'll have to wait for next month's solicit...

Re: Dr. Tomorrow

People jumping on the art for Doctor Tomorrow appear to be focusing on the one "Speed Racer" image, which looks to me more like some sort on in-story propaganda art. There are some sample story pages here: https://majorspoilers.com/2019/11/13/valiant-launches-doctor-tomorrow-in-february-2020/#prett...
