This is just such on on the wrong scale, my analogies were actually grossly unjust to CGC. They two 'companies' are not even on the same planet. Seriously, if you went and invested in a slabbing machine and some advertising, you would be on par with PGX. So you think my grading sucks too, eh?...

Okay, this has got me curious. It is a well established fact that several people here, ckb being the most vocal, feel that CGC is preferrable to PGX. Why? Are there inconsistencies in the way PGX grades their books? Are their prices out of line? Are their assigned grades out of line? As in, do they...

I found one: http://www.valiantfans.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12598 That post still didnt tell me why you hate them so much. Its not like CGC is super consistent (my neighbor has a Green Lantern CGC 9.8 book with multiple spine stresses and a color fleck). But that being said, I have met Borock mor...

Re: So what about PGX?

I just committed to buy a Strange Tales 150 9.2 from PGX and from the scan it looks immaculate. I am wondering what everyone else thinks about them related to CGC. I was a CGC dealer (I still have that box of dealer ads they sent) in the very beginning and I remember how much resistance there was a...

The want list you have all been waiting for

Thats right, I knew you guys were just waiting for me to post a want list. I know if I was someone other than me, I would be waiting for me to post it too. The list actually has some relatively easy to find books on it, I just havent stumbled across them yet. And so, without further ado: A&A 6, ...

Talk about thread hi-jacking - I didn't know you were a member here. I'll add insurance to your Rai #3 you bought from me on eBay at no charge. :thumb: -sly...

I use a solvent called VMP Naphtha, good stuff. It's like butane only without the impurities. Simply apply to the sticker or old tape and wait a few minutes. The glue will dissolve and the sticker can be easily removed. Use a Q-tip dipped in the stuff to get the remaining glue residue off of the co...

I have a similar want list. Is it cool to post it here, or should I create my own thread? I don't know, threads are in such short supply. Greg gets charged by the hosting company per thread, and it does use a LOT of CPU resources. Maybe Greg will chime in and give you permission to start your own t...

I wouldn't use any chemicals. Try using a hair drier to heat the glue up and then peel it. Do you think this will have any effect on the ink? i gotta...please forgive me... dude, they're only 25 cent books to begin with! :D how bad could a hair dryer possibly mess them up? again, i had to say it......

Price Stickers

Does anyone know a reliable way of removing price stickers from comics? I live in Seattle, and one of the greatest things about this area is Half Price Books. The one in Capital Hill is awesome, I go there once a week and I have never failed to find at least 3-4 Valiants for 25 cents each. The probl...

There were three pre-Unity books, X-O #1, Magnus 2 and 10. Someone else bought the Magnus 12 out of it right before I got there (for $4 dang it). There was also Visitor vs Valiant Variant and some high numbers (2 Bloodshot 43's). I havent fully searched them yet, these are what I found before I made...

Only about 200 people showed up, but it was still a decent show. I found at least one Valiant fan, and got two long boxes and a short box of Valiants for $50. All in all, not bad.

Both 1 and 2 are FN/VF. Here are the links. The corners are not as soft as they look in the scans.

Re: Jack Kirby and 70's horror extravaganzza

Swamp Thing (1st Series) 1-21 Sixteen of the books in this lot grade VF- or better. Total book value over $400, they will look great in your collection for only $275. Is this 1-21 complete? What grade are the #1 and 2? Could you put up scans of these 2? Nice list of books. I know that you have ever...

Someone mentioned hoarding earlier, and I think thats the issue with Rai more than any other title. It works best because it has a more limited supply. When I first got back buying Valiants on ebay, I bid on every copy of Rai 3 and 4 that came up for about a 30 day period. I got outbid every time by...

Some nice debate here. We all have our favorite preunity title but even my least favorite Harbinger is still a classic. Rai was unique and easily the most sci-fi oriented of the early books. It was probably the most difficult title to relate to but the concepts introduced were groundbreaking...
