Favorite Cover Book Specific.. This week Shadowman

Often times in these forums we discuss many things. One of the topics which comes up often are what your favorite covers? I know we all know the classic Valiant covers what about the covers that are well less know but still rock. So I thought I would start a new post each week regarding covers of ju...

I guess I would repectfully disagree ComicKings, as hard as it is to imagine somebody getting rid of this artwork. I imagine that through the years some of it has been destroyed. Especially through the valiant lean years. Perhaps not by the artist themselves, but through other people, and accidents ...

Maybe this will put it a little more in perspective if you include following titles A&A, Bloodshot, EW, Harby,Magnus, Ninjak, Turok, Rai, Rai and future force, Shadowman, Solar, X-O, Hardcorps. There are about 586 covers depending if you count TPB's which I have. I used a qualifier of at least 2...

Let's not also discount the possibility that some of the art was destroyed and never returned to the artist. I would guessimate that as much of it has been destroyed as has been kept by the artist if not more. That would mean that 20% of the art is gone, 20% is still being held and that would leave ...

Is it because the durablity of the pencils that are in question. Thats why most people prefer the inks then, or a combination of that and the inks showing better. That being said wouldn't the, and I use caution when I say it "uncommoness" of the pencils be worth more. If thats true then wh...

Pencils vs Inks

I was just wondering which is more difficult to attain and obviously the Inks show better, but are there people that collect just pencils? Is there a premium paid for inks vs pencils? I was curious about this topic. As a collectable which would you rather have. Just curious on other people's thoughts

I didn't want to throw off the vibe that these folks were speculators because in all honestly they weren't. They are just your average run of the mill comic shop owners, and basically there thoughts were that Valiant because of there great marketing created such a buzz in the industry that people re...

Is there industry envy/hatred of Valiant universe?

I was recently talking to a couple of Comic shop owners and the topic of Valiant books came up. They basically thought the entire industry holds Valiant up as the poster child for what was went wrong during the Comic boom/bust. Thats right he said Valiant not Image. I was shocked. He said that he wa...

Deathmate was a huge disappoint to me, the characters on both sides were really brutalized on both sides, the story was at best decidedly unworthy(in my opinion). The tardiness on the image side was really almost criminal. I believe that Valiant had a lot more riding of the crossover then Image did ...

I think each of you have some very valid points. I am with Magnus and Greg in the fact that the actual investment factor is not a primary factor in the consideration. As I do this as a hobby not as a retirement play. So the real question then becomes where would a person just starting get some good ...

Original Art or High Grade Comics?

I decided to ask this question as I am torn which way to go, I can't really do both as the both of them seem to be premium items. If a person had to choose which would it be? I need a clarify a few things high grade meaning comics CGCed at a 9.6 or higher vs collecting orginal art. While I know some...

Yes and after looking at it again there is a trash can in the left hand bottom corner. I don't have Solar 3 so if it in that book that would explain why I can't find it. Do you know who the artist is?

Need Help Identifying this page

Unfortunately I don't have a scanner to simply post a picture, but I acquired several years ago a page of Solar art. I'll do my best to describe it, It's Solar in full solar gear (splash page) standing in the middle of the street he has a single word balloon very small on the page. He looks to be ab...
