Re: Crossgen Comics appreciation and memories thread.

I really wish that Negation War had been completed. I've seen some of the supposed "unofficial" scripts for the final issues floating around the net but I'm not sure they're actually legit or not, and they seem pretty goofy to me. Sigh, that would have been a great ending...

At this point, all I'm hoping for from VEI are hardcover collections of the "best" from VH-1/VH-2.

Mostly I would really just like all of the pre-UNITY and UNITY comics collected in hardcovers. Additional content is not necessary. Anything beyond that is really a bonus.

At this point I would be content with them slowly releasing all of the pre-Unity and Unity books in hardcover collections.

I still remember reading Man of the Atom and thinking that there was serious potential with the Acclaim universe. Christina Z's writing on the Master Darque special and the limited series was excellent. I also think Solar: Hell on Earth was a pretty great story, it came very close to VH1 quality for...

VH2 1999 Event

A lingering question I've had for years: Does anyone know what Fabian's original VH2 1999 event was going to be like? There was some very interesting build up in the Master Darque one shot and limited series, the Harbinger one shot, etc. to it, and I was looking forward to it. Anyone have any solid ...

I thought the first issue was awful - turning the VH2 Master Darque into a terrible stock villain despite all the great work Christina Z did with him in the VH2 stories. I basically gave up on the series being good at that point. And then I got issue 2. Issue 2 showed Shooter's brilliant writing. It...

Mr. Lapham, I just wanted to drop you a note and say that I am a huge fan of yours. I think your work, from Harbinger to Warriors of Plasm to Stray Bullets, has always been brilliant. I will definitely check out Young Liars as well. I will say that it would be a personal dream of mine to see you reu...

I'd like to know more about the hints that were dropped in Solar #7 about the gods of the Spider Aliens. The Manowar pilot that Solar killed mentioned about 2-3 times that Solar was "like their gods." It suggested to me that perhaps we would eventually see a conflict between Solar and the ...

Has anyone ever had any conversations with Nicieza on his plans for the 1999 event? I remember I had a few e-mail exchanges with him back when VH-2 was winding down and he was pretty upset about the whole thing going belly up. I remember I sent him a pretty impassioned e-mail about how much I cared ...

I would actually try to read Crossgen in publication order, if you can piece together how it was originally chronologically published. The stories flow pretty organically if you do that. No offense, but that doesn't make any sense. Every title in the CrossGen U was self contained. You're better off...

Route 666 and Negation were top notch series. Tony Bedard rightly got recognized and picked up by Marvel once Crossgen folded for his triple A work on those two series. Negation in particular was very well done, although it got too trigger happy with killing characters towards the end of its run. It...

I actually think Deathmate Black was a pretty decent book, probably the best out of all of them. The sad thing is they could have done some good stories with Deathmate, but they went in a very dumb direction. Any time you have a crossover where the two universes merge or are assumed to be the same (...

How many DC editors/group editors are people that Shooter fired from Marvel? I think I can count at least 3 off the top of my head, and I'm sure there are more in the editorial structure I'm not aware of. Plus, on top of that, how many people have grown up on the apocryphal Shooter stories like the ...

Shadowman was good until the end. In fact, the last 3 issues were some of the best Hall ever did. Turok's Lost Land story during Birthquake was very good too - or maybe I'm just a sucker for Morales art.
